I just put Sadowsky flats on my KBP5 and I think I am in love. Sounds awesome, and I love the throwback slap tone. I'll be playing that one tomorrow at church.

The black looks good because it matches with the dots and pickguard well but I think it makes it look cheaper.

The chrome is more classic and classy.

Yeah, the only time I really like black hardware is when you are trying not to take away from a special top -- like on my old Sadowsky.

General Question - I know my KBP5 had went through two or three hands before getting to me, can anyone clue me in on what strings are on there for sure? They are flats with red windings and a non-tapered B string. They are surely not the Jamerson set as I originally thought, which was a $70 lesson...

are you sure they are not TI Jazz Flats? As I recall, those have red silks. Are they really low tension?

I tried the Jamerson set on my LG5, turns out they are not at all like the strings on my KBP5, which I will not dare to take off the bass. If you want to try out the Jamersons let me know they are already cut for an AC I can ship them to you to try (not giving them away, just a loaner).

Hi Dan:
I had Jimmy put the TI flats on my KPB-5 and they are fantastic!! Highly recommended!

I have not tried them on my LG-5 yet by will probably do that in the future. I don't do much slapping, so loss of a little "zing" is just fine by me.

Thank you so much for the offer Pete!! But, I think I'm going to put TI Flats on it.
I'm still going to give the Sadowsky Blues a little more time.

BTW... when I started playing bass in 1971 (yes I'm old). I hated flats.
When I put a set of Rotosound strings on my '73 P bass...wow!! I have never
wanted to go back to flat's...untill now. You guys suck...

I prefer black hardware on almost everything, but on that white bass, I think the chrome is the right call.

I bet the black hardware would kill on an RA with the black blocks and binding!
