The black looks good because it matches with the dots and pickguard well but I think it makes it look cheaper.
The chrome is more classic and classy.
+1. Since these basses are meant to vibe classic instruments, black hardware is a bit of a disconnect, as is the 'no guard' thing, and/or a fancy top. It all looks good though, but those features, which can work wonderfully on other bass lines, really take the A-C to a place where they really aren't really meant to go IMO.
