Ken's right about the pictures being primarily for the magazine, BUT, we WILL be posting stuff on our web site and sharing here. NO WAY would we cut you guys off. NO WAY.

The main "delay" right now is our day is 100.00% full between working the show all day and hangin' at bass quake/bash all night, so it'll be a bit slow over the weekend. We'll get to it all tho!

I'll try to at least get a couple AC booth pics up soon tho... that orange RA is just freakishly cool, and that custom D neck profile he has on it was surprisingly pleasant to play. Oh, and the tone... oooohhhhh the tone... :)

My LM5 -

I had danced around some things Jimmy suggested we do with my bass and he asked me to keep it a secret since he'd be announcing at NAMM. So now I can fully disclose...

So my original order was just the fancy blocks and binding, transparent finish and vintage tint.

What Jimmy discussed with me and I gave him the go ahead on was-

- The Skunk stripe
- A slightly chunkier neck
- One piece maple neck
- Micro tilt
- Bullet truss rod (which I haven't heard mentioned yet)

It should be very cool!

BTW - I had to get my fix at lunch so I went to the local GC and played a Marcus Fender and plugged it into the Ampeg Micro rig. Outside of the 1/2" string height and the limited volume that little set up didn't sound half bad...

Thats funny, I do the same thing when I travel out of town, I try to book my hotel near a GC or Sam Ash, so that I can get my fix.

I had an older A-C with a bullet truss rod and I found it to be a very
pain in the ass adjusting it, as the string retainer was always in the way. If I had the choice I would pass on the bullet truss rod.

As far as I know the neck is done so my decision is final, I did ask that exact question and he said it wouldn't be a problem, I don't know what his work around will be though...

If I was 'king of the luthier world' and all powerful, I would decree the following:

1) No bass will be made, for any reason, by any luthier, without the Music Man/Sadowsky truss rod adjustment wheel design

2) No bass (edit: with an on-board preamp) will be made, for any reason, by any luthier, that does not have some sort of separate, easy access, battery compartment.

3) No bass will be made, for any reason, by any luthier, that does not ship with Duncan dual action straplocks.

So let it be written, so let it be done:D

Agree 100%,

I don't like the truss adjustment X on my LG5 or KBP5 I am worried about stripping it or scratching the pickguard, but at least the bullet will look cool. And I did ship Jimmy a set of strap locks and Hi Beams..

Excellent. If that bullet is designed and placed correctly, it should be just fine.

If I hadn't found the very hard to find 'short shank bent screwdriver' tool, I would not be happy with the old school 'screwdriver' type adjustment design that Jimmy uses as his standard. However, with that tool (it is very thick and heavy duty with a large, flat blade, but the shank is only about 3/4" long, which allows it to easily fit in the adjustment route) it is very easy to adjust the neck. Luckily, I'm going on three years without having to touch my LM neck (that thing is a freak of nature). I adjust my LG a couple times a year at the change of the seasons.

I'll second all this with one caveat:

a passive bass wouldn't really need a battery box...so, you're kinda ruling out passive basses...:bawl:

I was just wondering today, "why is it that this expensive new bass (several brands are guilty of this, no need to mention names here) doesn't come with straplocks...doesn't everyone just install them anyway? and with the dual design, if you're silly enough to not use them, or just forget your strap (yeah, done it) you can still use your guitar player's spare...
