Tough call ... Nitro would be warmer sounding, but the poly might cut through more. My personal preference is usually Nitro. It lets the wood breathe more & you get more of the true tone of the bass. The older my (nitro) LG5 gets, the better it sounds.
Not being a fretless player at all, i don't really have a point of reference of which would be better.
I know 2 NYC guys who have fretless LG5's.(guessing they're nitro, but not sure) If anyone is trying to get first hand info, PM me & i'll send you their email addresses.

^ I love all these pics! I especially love the KBP5 which is now my bass, I can't imagine anyone ever selling that bass...

If you didn't tell me that the LG5 was a fretless I'd never have guessed. I am very interested in hearing your thoughts on the difference between the bent plate and standard bridge. Is that bass shot in Poly or Nitro?

I love all the other basses too guys. I am especially fond of the sonic blue and matching head stock, I'd love to get an LG5 fretless, shot in nitro in sonic blue with a matching headstock and bent plate bridge.....

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, if the Black Beauties aren't nickel I wouldn't put them on. The RA5 is a real special bass with nickel strings. Having said that, it would look freakin' wicked, wouldn't it. I forgot you had that sonic Blue KPB4, nice! I still have serious lust for the white LG4. For whatever reason that thing just speaks to me.

If I were a "P" guy I would never have sold that bass, but it didn't suit my playing style, and I'm not one to keep an instrument hostage (even a beatiful one) if I'm not going to play it. Reluctantly I let it go, and was on the verge of sending money to buy it back (in fact had the deal worked out) before you got it. Again, I thought twice and realized that I was going to have an instrument sitting around. In my mind, not fair if someone else is going to play it. So I passed, and you're playing it regularly, and that makes me happy. Goofy, but true.

Besides, now I have more cash available for when Andrew sells me his white LG4. ;)

Black Beauties are SS strings... But if AJ is looking for aggressiveness then maybe that's a good route to go.

I am using Black Diamond black coated strings on my Lull which are Nickel and to me they are great - I am possibly converted from DR. I just love Nickel strings!
