Jimmy's whole thing seems to be a love of the original 'vintage' design. If you are looking for 'reverse P's, P/J, etc., that's not really what these basses are about. There are plenty of great 'modern' options for that kind of deal.... Sadowsky, Lull, Nordy, etc.

Jimmy won't even do dual action straplocks, or modern truss rods (wheel or hex adjustment)... it's just not what he is trying to do.

I really like that 'back to the old school' sort of deal that he has going on, and I can understand that he doesn't really want to start doing the 'modifications' on the design. IMO and from a brief discussion with him on his approach around the time I bought mine.

we were working on a body blank.. he didnt even have a finish on it yet.. the pickguard is just traced on the body with pencil since a normal P PG is slightly undersized... he is cutting the PG as custom too.. what a pain in the A$$

....yes...but he will consider going the other way towards even more vintage...as I raised the possibility of trying a true one- piece maple neck with skunk stripe truss placement (ala true 70's maple necks). He seemed open to trying one in the future. I dont know anyone right now doing it and I've always wanted to try it. I know about the stability risks but I also wonder about the tone. That he would even consider it in a positive light shows how dedicated to vintage he is.

We'll need a hard straight- grained piece of maple for that !

And now the wait begins.......

for a KBP-5, Ice Blue metallic, matching headstock, parchment pickguard. Just could not resist.

I'll keep playing my LG-5 to stave off the cravings!

The sound is to die for! :hyper: I can't find a bad tone on this bass, whether it's a dimed out 8th note rock thang played with a pick, or some burpy finger funk, or a slap groove...it's all good.

When A/Bed with my Sadowsky, it's immediately obvious that the AC is 1960s and the Sad is 1970s (a la marcus).
When A/bed with my Team Built CS Fender "64, the AC hands down wins in the vintage sound category...and it's a 5 string! I've always thought that I could hear a 5 string being played even if the low B wasn't being used. I always thought that the added mass noticeably effected the tone, but this LG5 weighs only 8.5lbs, so maybe that has something to do with it...but it just sounds great...passive or active.

I've been trying to get a couple more accurate pics of the color, since my camera really affects the shades, but I think these three are really indicative.

Sorry for spamming pics, but I'm excited and if anyone out there can understand...it's the club! :D
