Cliff, if you have time when it's done, I would love to hear a sound clip of the fretted version that's coming up. I've been wanting a chambered electric 6 string fretted bass that still has similar immediacy that you get from a solidbody. I just want that air behind the note and the wider sound that you get with chambering.

I would, too, love to hear clips when the bass is done - if at all possible.

I was playing my fretless last night and just pondering the sound. I think I can kind of see where Cliff is coming from. The mids can get congested, or distorted sometimes, an ugly aggressive sound or one with no definition - the balance is often hard.

That frequency really alters the sound much more then treble, or even the bassier sounds. It's hard to put into words but if I've got the right amount and tone from the mids on my bass everything works. But since it's such a large and varied frequency band the 'mid control' can often work against me, not with me.

I thought I would share a cool looking picture why we wait for updates.

This thread is porn of the highest order! As a CB owner, I can say from experience that as fantastic as these instruments look in pictures, they are so much more in person. What a builder! One of my truly great discoveries on TB.
