Hey Cliff, here is the one I got in trade from a fellow TB'er. It is without a doubt one of my favorite basses. The Delano passive pickups are like nothing I've heard before . It is also incredibly light. I am in awe of this instrument & hope someday to do business with you. My only problem is trying to think of something more I'd want in a bass.

I just put my Cliff Bordwell SC 5 string up for sale here in the classifieds section. I really want another 5 string bass, and I can't justify having five basses to take care of. It will be a sad day if it sales... but I got to make room! :)

Looking good! In slightly sad news, it seems I forgot to tell Cliff to radius my 1/2 ramp and I'm assuming he had it done before I realized this. Obviously not Cliff's fault, but after so many custom basses, I should be an expert by now on how to order/spec them. LOL. Oh well, shouldn't effect things.

Been there done that. Your fretboard looks really good though!

Forgive me, but ramps are always radiused aren't they? They're just a thumb rest otherwise. If the ramp is detachable than it should be an easy fix.

Almost always radiused. This one isn't detachable per my request. Much like the new Gary Willis basses, I wanted mine bolted in so I could really fine tune the height. Since I tend to only use them on the high strings, I'll probably just set it high near the high strings and much lower on the bass side.

The ramp on my own bass is also bolted in, except mine is in it's own cavity similar to how a pickup would be mounted. It makes adjusting the height of the ramp much, much easier.

I would imagine the only time a ramp wouldn't be radiused would be if the fingerboard wasn't radiused.....a ramp should always be radiused the same as the fingerboard (end of the fingerboard if it's a compound radius) to be properly effective.

I agree....I just didn't specify that. :p The other twist to this is that it's a half-ramp and the theory was I could use the ramp next to the bridge pickup and shift my fingers and still play in an open area as if the ramp weren't there. Having never seen another half-ramp, no clue how it will turn out. My problem was that I assumed....which we all know how that can turn out. :D

Since the 1/2 ramp was using matching wood for the FB, and pickup covers, might be too hard to start from scratch since everything was supposed to match, which it still will.

Either way, one more beautiful Bordwell bass on the way!
