Wow this club is getting bigger! I'm amazed every time I grab my CB. So buttery it melts in you hands. Sonically speaking of course 
Just talking with Cliff about a new double cut design based off the "Dola" singlecut...apparently, the first one is making its debut in the next build.
Just saw the latest pics up on Cliff's News page. I had seen most of them before, but the black and white ebony top is even more spectacular when it's shaped like a bass!

Hi, folks.... just got off the phone with Cliff, I put down my deposit for a 6-string fretted. I'm having him do the modified Ball design (with the rounded butt), but with the Big McNeely horn. This is going to be longest 13 months of my life!
Okay, still working it out, going with some sort of Nordstrand Dual-Coils, Nordstrand 3 band w passive switch, pau ferro fingerboard, maple body. As to the top, I'm still trying to figure that out... I wanted the black and white ebony, but the only piece he has left of that is mostly black, so I'm thinking marblewood, if he can get it, or a very streaky black limba or spalted maple. 18 mm spacing for the strings, 34" scale. Don't really have anything else, at this point, but I'll be sure to keep you all updated. I really like how the Big McNeely/modified Ball body will look.
Working out the details is part of the pleasure of a custom build! 
I really like pau ferro as a fretboard wood, but to me the color seems to fit better with lighter, more "traditional" tops (figured maple, etc.) instead of really dark woods like ebony or walnut, but that's just me.
I assume you've already looked over the "in stock" tops on Cliff's page? Certainly there's some inspiring stuff there!

I wouldn't be going with a dark wood... the only ebony I was interested in would be the black and white kind, but that's not happening, so I'll have something lighter like spalted maple or if Cliff can get it, marblewood. I did look at his woods page, I don't want to keep going back to it, because if I do, I'lln ever make a decision!Working out the details is part of the pleasure of a custom build!

Cliff has posted another update in the news: thenews4 . The current batch is near finished! The black and white ebony is quite spectacular, but I'm really happy with the way my Dola is turning out...
