Hey Kev, it's voodoo.

It looks like Cliff makes a cut out into the body and then glues the neck into the cut out section. Quite why it profiles like it does is a mystery but a happy one.

Kev have you showed your custom bass here as well? You need to update you profile and add your cutom bass!

Davo

I'm not sure I like mysteries.

Yeah, Davo, my new bass is in Short Scale club and the WHO HAS A BASS HERE THAT NO ONE ELSE EVEN REMOTELY HAS thread.... but what the hell, let's put pollute the Bordwell aesthetic and plonk it here too:

This entire batch of basses is amazing, but I absolutely love the Big McNeely. It just does it for me, WOW, not to mention the uniquad pickup. I just lol'd at that.

Justin

Ha! I said,"Cliff, what do you think about a hollow body bass, with a uniquad pickup... maybe a Audere Z mode preamp... on nine layers of body wood? He started to say, "Okay"... when I added... and A REALLY BIG BASS BODY!

That Cliff is one nice guy :-)

Just got this one...its SO awesome... I think it used to be Zooberwerx old one..

Congrats! Probably the best passive harness I've encountered. The mid roll-off actually works, too!

Please use a little extra time / caution when addressing the trussrod. Its a dual-action jobby with a non-removable 3mm hex nut and cannot be removed via conventional means if you hose it up. Given the neck stiffness, I find it be "under-engineered"....I can think of better config's.

Enjoy!

Hey, Thanks for that tip, the action is pretty sweet on it as-is, and its actually sporting my favorite brand and gauge of string, so hopefully it will need very little adjustment in the future, due to weather.

Oh, and you are absolutely spot on with the wiring, its by far the best range of tones out of ANY of my basses, passive or active, and that's a bold statement coming from me. I have an overwhelming desire to customize EVERYTHING, and I'm generally an active preamp kinda guy all the way, but this thing will get no modifications whatsoever! Its PERFECT.... but now that means i have to thin out "the harem" a little bit... :atoz:

I bet you guys are getting excited for the basses. I am sure that everyone of them will be excellent.

Since there is no real news this week, I will post the mockup I had beav do for me of the new bass I have on order. It is my custom design. Hope you like it.

Colonel,

Cliff seems pretty excited for it. He said that he really likes the shape, and he also said that he had been looking for tulipwood for a few years and just landed the piece for my bass right before I inquired about it.

Now, if only things in my life would get out of the way so I can get it all paid for, it would be great.

Thanks,
Justin

Justin,
That shape looks awesome! I am so jealous!!!! I have been asking Cliff for Tulipwood forever! Can't wait to see it get started... when does the build start?

hey cb owners,

i'm desperatley looking for more sound clips or videos of cb basses.
so far i've only found some from tim seisser and if i'm correct user 'davo-london' and the guy from bassfuzz.com.

so, does anybody have something that he could share with the club?

oh and by the way, i am becoming a member of the club as well in about 8 months:bassist:

UPDATES!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

Man.......they are turning into the nicest looking basses.

They are going to pop when Cliff hits 'em with the finish.

The Big McNeely carved out nice, a really nice look to it.

It's gettin' harder to wait the closer they get. :hyper:

Nice!
I really like the figure on the bubinga top. Makes me want to go home and play my SC. I just emailed Cliff on another bass idea that I have... and that bass makes me want to do another bubinga top with maple back!

The Big McNeely is looking good. Really looking forward to see how Cliff's hollow body design is going to make this fretless sound.
