Tom sent an updated photo of #227 last night. My paduak bodied Kim 4 string. Lots of progress. The body is cut out, the pickup routes are done. Its going to be done sooner than I thought.

Will post updates when I get back in town later this week. Very excited!

I will be joining this club very soon. I just purchased Clement #96 from the for sale section on this site and it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I will post pictures when it arrives and I cannot wait to play this beauty.

The Gloryroad Travelers bluegrass band has been asked to perform at the area custom car/truck/cycle shows this year. Clement bass and all. We said,"Yes." Gonna be fun in the sun.

#227 is coming along quickly. Tom put the parts together today. Here it is in its unfinished glory. Tom's got some final sanding to do, and still has the oil finish to apply, so this will end up darker and redder when done.

Padauk isn't a light wood, so this Clement will end up on the heavier side for one of Tom's basses at 9.75 lbs. But I'm used to playing an ash body 1970's P bass and a Ken Smith 5 so it'll be relatively light for me.

2 bart pickups in the "Ken Smith" positions

black limba neck with lined ebony board...

Will the striated coloring still be present after oiling. That would be nice.

@kernodle: I'm really curious how she's going to look when she's completely finished. The Black Limba looks really bright. I think that Padauk will become very red. Yep I'm curious.

Fedex showed up yesterday with my delivery of Clement #96. It was so difficult working from home and having to be on conference calls all day with this box starting at me the whole time.

You guys all mention how beautiful these basses are and you see all the pictures but nothing compares to seeing one in person. This thing is truly a work of art and I couldn't believe how light it is. I might take it to get setup one day this weekend but part of me doesn't want to since I can't put the thing down. I will take some pictures and upload them this weekend but I'm sure everyone has seen this bass already I am just happy that it's mine and want to show it off to people.

To be honest, it is the most comfortable neck I have ever played. That probably isn't a very fair statement though since the only other bass I currently own to compare it with is from that, uh, German company

I think we can honestly say that the German company has a completely different neck profile than what Tom makes. But for those who like that, they are amazing. I wouldn't trade them for the world

Congratulations with your new bass, John. I love my Clement basses, and especially the necks. They feel awesome!

I had one of those German basses too...

Now I dont, but have 2 clems for not much more wedge and a far better sound and feel!

I don't know what German bass you're talking about but I absolutely agree that Tom's necks are the best. I still have a German and a Polish custom bass but their necks can't compete with TC's necks.
