No certainly not but hopefully he can get some nice basses out of it. And now thumbs up that his roof is ok.
1st day peek at my facebook page since March and bang Tom says his house got bopped by hours ago. Yikes. Glad everyone was out of harms way. But some wonderful ash delivered the good way. Wish I was ready for another go at it; still aiming some day to do up an Anne/Jon morph. My Dream.

That's a pretty top on that Ryan 4, I bet it growls nice with the Jazz Pickups. Thanks for sharing the photo with us.
I am pretty happy with the bridges actually. Im going to swap the tunners out for some hipshot ultra lights. Later I plan to swap the pre and pups for either some Villex or Nordies with an Audere 4 band pre.

#248 will be a 5 string passive bass with two Big Singles pickups, I'm having Tom put on the inset Dunlop strap locks. The Body underneath that Myrtlewood Top will be Swamp Ash and the neck will be black Limba. I'm going to have Tom set it up with a volume pot, tone pot and a Pickup blend pot. The Katalox should be beautiful in its final unlined fretless form.
Received my bass yesterday. It has exceeded my expectations.
Visually, I love the contrasting woods, the walnut grain, the shape and balance of the body, the flamed fingerboard. The fingerboard is a thick slab, I love it.
From a tactile point of view, I feel like it's hugging me. It wants to be close, and it just snuggles on in there. Sitting or on a strap, it feels at home. The neck has a flatter profile than any other bass I own. I play many different profiles and don't really have a favorite, this one is fast. Part of it's speed comes from the fact that it is soooo smooth.
Sound. (I will post clips at my earliest opportunity). This is my favorite passive setup. I've got some humbuckers that I use a series/parallel switch with, and some single coils that I use a Tonestyler with. I like both those arrangements. This combines both, a Nordstrand MM 4.2, series/parallel going into a tonestyler. In series I get that hot, punchy, low mid range, and in parallel I get that clearer, slightly scooped, single coil type tone. Both modes LOVE the tonestyler. It has round wounds on it and I can get a nice clanky, jangly tone, or dial down the Tonestyler and get a big ol thump goin on.
About an hour into playing it last night, the E string broke where it is anchored at the head. I hope this was a freak occurrence and not a feature of the headless system. Changing strings is a whole new ballgame, and my hardware has the marks to prove it. I'm sure by about the third time, it will be just as fast as traditional tuners.
It arrived in excellent shape. I had to adjust the intonation, I think the neck has bowed a bit from Florida to California. I will wait a couple of weeks before I try any adjustments, to let things settle. Very playable as is. If I were to adjust it now, it would probably be an 1/8 of a turn.
I have already posted the overall pictures Tom sent, and they were very good, so here are some detail pix.
I'm really bummed that my next jam has been canceled. I want to hear this in a group setting..
