Club Clement (Part 6: Post your basses here)

Well bass 276 is on it's way to me on friday... tomorrow in fact. So, this is me trying to pre join the club.

35inch scale
Fretted 6 string Jon bass,
Nord dual coils and pre-amp
Neck = Black limba and Wenge with a Wenge fingerboard.
Body = Limba with a redwood top.

I asked Tom to set the controls towards the bridge for me because I've always had a problem with hitting my hand on my volume knob. And the pickup placement was sort of stolen from the warwick thumb single cut.

The grain in that wenge is stunning.

I like the solution for the controls. I have played a few basses where I ended up hitting the controls regularly. It was bad enough that I have actually stuffed a small piece of rubber under them to make them difficult to bump.

Any chance that we'll get to hear a sound clip?

Just in case anyone needed some motivation to pull the trigger on a great opportunity. #272 is now my main player. Hard to believe but, the pic really doesn't do it justice.

For those that have not met the man, working with Tom is an enjoyable and great experience. He will do right by you and fix you up a great instrument :bassist:

Dude! That is awesome!:bassist:

Dave, you beat me to it! It's just an extremely beautiful bass! I bet it sounds awesome, too, as usual :-)

If it wasn't for the fact that Tom already had my basses (pun intended) covered for everything, including six string fretted with my absolutely stunning main axe, I'd definitely sell something to get my filthy fingers on this beauty. :-)

Someone will be happy, I'm sure!!

I'm really psyched and will go a bit crazy waiting, but I am really really looking forward to my Clement six string Lefty fretless Jon. A bit of reshaping of the body but not much. So, I'd like to be member....what number member would I be? Whatever it is, I will be glad to be it. So hello to all. Chris Q

Welcome Chris!

Tom's pretty quick on the build, so hopefully the wait won't be too painful

Any more details on the build? And dont forget the pics!

MrWalker,

What a great tone you have here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=F99V4w-03fA

What are your settings on the headless in this video?

Thanks for the compliment on the tone!
I'm pretty sure my settings on this clip is balance dialed slightly towards the bridge (approx 55/45 og 60/40 or thereabout), and with a slight bass boost and very subtle treble and mid boost. Played through my Genz Benz Shuttle 6 (with the standard GB 2x10" cabinet and an extra 1x12" cabinet underneath), which tends to be very accurate across the frequency range. I tend to dial back a little on the bass when playing through my old Yorkville Bloc 80B (15" speaker).

On many basses, the bridge pickup gets very "thin" when soloed, but on this bass the bridge pickup is further away from the bridge than on a jazz bass, so it's got a pretty full sound on it's own, as well. Not thin at all.

i think I promised to make a better recording of this bass, and I should really work on that... life's just consuming me these days. But I hope it will get better !!!! :D

Interesting. I expected that you had more bridge pickup in the mix. Thanks for the details.

Those Nordstrand Big Splits seem very appealing. How did you decide the bridge pickup placement on this one?

I'll be looking for that video demo. Any chance that we could hear the neck and bridge pickups soloed?
