I actually do solo the bridge a lot. These are humbuckers, mind you. Favorite Bridge tone ever for me.

Wonder if I have the woodworking chops (doubtful) to get a short scale Warmoth P body, shave off that bottom horn, throw on a Darkstar and have my own homebrewed medium scale Decade.
Me too! if there was a medium scale Decade I'd sell the long scale. I've actually thought about asking Carl Pedigo if he'd make a medium scale neck. Medium scale is perfect for me. Even though Rics are right in between medium and long scale it's definitely one of the reasons I like them so much. That scale length is more easily playable for me. I also have a Rick Turner Model 1 which is medium scale. It's a perfect neck.
Well I can't imagine they've gotten any cheaper so it's gotta be in the 3k range. Give or take a hundred.
Yeah I'm sure thats way different than a SC bridge pup being soloed. Is it at all Thunderbirdish, or like an EB3, being a mahogany body and buckers? One of my two is definitely getting humbuckers. Probably the shorty.

Hi, I have a Skyline Decade rolling in on Monday with passive Single coil Chi's. I have no idea if this is blasphemy or not but I have an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp waiting to sell or install in something. How would the Aguilar preamp pair with the Chi-Sonic pickups & has anyone attempted this yet?
So I bought a lakland decade with the idea of putting a Hobo neck I have, its nice and meaty like a P now, jazz bass neck aren’t for me. I also moved the neck pickup 2 nodes closer to the bridge. Roughly where a 51 p or jazz neck pickup goes. Its perfect for me now. It still has a lot of meat in the tone but the wofiness is gone. I suspect these basses get sold a lot because people don’t jive with the neck pickup, probably the reason more companies don’t make basses with this configuration. Anway, if you have a similar problem, I recommend moving the neck pickup down 2 nodes. Also, I had some weird phasing sound in the middle position, probably because the pickups were so far apart. That problem is gone now. Another totally reversible thing you can try is flipping the pickups around. Stock they come with the magnets closest to the neck and bridge. Anyway, before I thought it was cool, but now, it is a keeper, and more than that. Will be my only bass as I am selling the other 8 I have. Which include, reverend, cataldo, gibson, amd fender, and Gretsch, if that tells you anything.
By the way, one more tip. Playing over the neck pickup with a pick gives a very 60’s p bass sound, a very unique tone to this bass, also, these pickups sound best with some extra space between them and the strings and fretboard.
