Club Decade!

Hello all. Question: How would you describe the body size of a Decade? Large and full-sized, or smaller body (like a Music Man Sterling or Sadowsky MV4)? I'm intrigued by the Decade, but don't know of anywhere in my neck of the woods where I can do a hands on. Thanks!

Out of curiosity, what are the issues with "ergonomics" that I've heard people mention with respect to the Decade? Like the poster above, I'm really interested in the looks and sound (clips) of the Decade, but no one local carries them, so if I picked one up it would be without ever trying one in person...so I'd like to research as much as I can in advance.

Many thanks in advance!

Wasn't there a few that had issues with the body shape? If you're used to a more traditional shape, and your forearm is used to laying across a certain contour, your plucking hand will end up closer to the bridge (IIRC) than what a lotta guys prefer.

Because of the shorter upper horn, it does put the nut a little farther out. That's the only thing.

One of my basses is a Warwick Thumb NT, which as many people know tends to rest on your body in a way that gives a feel as though its a 36" scale or something...its a looooong reach to first position! If I can live with and enjoy that, I'm sure a Decade will barely feel like a noticeable difference. :)

So I'm in the honeymoon period with my newly acquired Decade. I put LaBella flats on it and I get a cool, fat, naturally "overdriven" kind of tone by favoring the neck pickup a bit.

The only ergonomic issue I have is that I can't put always put my thumb on the pickup edge to play where I want on the strings because the pickups are so far apart. I use the edge of the pickguard instead, and that sorta' works.

I put Chromes on my shorty Decade last week after only stringing it with Sunbeams since it was new. It just kills with the Chromes. It's a perfect pairing with the best of everything. There's still plenty of punch coupled with that lovely flats thud. And the dynamics and sensitivity of the Chis really shine with flats.

It's in the house! WOW!! Love the tone from these humbuckers! So HUGE! But very clear! Fit and finish is perfect! Love the Birdseye neck, and glad I didn't mount the guard...plan on putting screw heads in the guard and going back and forth with the guard/nude.

Getting a Skyline Decade tomorrow, in a trade, am so pumped up after reading everything in this thread!
Am probably going to put my TI jazz flats on, or their rounds but I have to hear it live first!
Oh the excitement...
