Club Fbass (Part 11!)

If someone could get this bass down to a decent price, for all things considered, could/would/should the proper repair be done by the folks at Fbass themselves?

Just curious, I have no funds for nor intention of purchasing this bass.

Hey. I just got hip to the whole FBass thing recently. I'm in love!! Picked up a VF5 and it just blew me away at how well it does the Jazz bass tone. I liked it so much I bought 2!! Actually, the standard 44mm nut spacing was a little tight for me so I spotted this one with 48mm spacing on the FBass site and grabbed it quick:
It's KILLING!!!

49mm, wow, that's wider than your typical fiver...It's cool to see that. I like the fact that George has a guy who will hand carve a neck to whatever--he/you/whoever ordered it in the first place--wants!

I had him make me a discontinued model, a BN5 Studio with a 47mm nut and it plays like a dream. Didn't cost me much for that either..

Yeah, I'm aware of the difference between Fbass and Fodera, which is why I put in the little smiley there. I thought it was funny that the SC guy didn't know...oh, never mind. GC isn't shipping it from store to store though; people are buying it over the Internet, and then seeing what a beat up and damaged instrument it is when it arrives are simply taking advantage of the chain's 30 day return policy and returning it to their local. Nothing nefarious happening here on GC's part. Someone from Florida bought it off the Internet, it went from the VA store to the customer, and got returned to a FL store that doesn't want it. At least the current store will tell you over the phone what a dog it is, so my hat's off to them!

Also, I do have MUCH better pics of this instrument and the damage (and bizarre color) if anyone wants to see them, as I had GC take a few close ups and send them to me. I may post them Saturday evening anyway just to get them saved here and on the public record. I'm not sure what will happen with this bass, but the price really needs to be about $500 I think for someone to seriously consider biting on it and putting in the coin to fix it up properly.

Thanks Jim for the info... was just wondering why the bass was finding it's way around the country... The pix that GC sent really show the damage, and I agree that the best thing to do is to send it back to George and his gang to have the proper repair done... But it would have to sell at a really decent price....

people are sleeping on this bass for sure. i wasnt as connected to the 60's version, but the 70's version is spot on.

At some point in 2013, it is my intention to place an order for a BN6, in Trans Blue NPF finish. I hope to post a build/wait thread, and eventually a NBD post. Instrument-wise, the BN6 is presently #1 in my wishlist. It'll take some saving but I hope this becomes reality.

The BN6 I have in mind will basically look like this, except in the NPF finish because I want to feel the wood grains.

Took my first step this morning, on my first F Bass journey. I sent an email to UltimateBasses.ca for an official price/quotation. I am now awaiting their reply. I hope to send my deposit sometime in early/mid-April.
