Club Fbass (thread 13)

I don't think you will find them in the "low" 2K any more- which I'm glad to see :)

Yeah I'm not expecting any BN5 in the "low" two's. Mid-high 2's is fair game for the right axe. And if I'm being an unrealistic and cheap bastard, so be it. :)

Yup. I was in discussions with that seller. We even talked on the phone. He was going to send me a couple additional pics and I said "Lets move forward with this deal" and he said "sounds good". he never sent the pics and marked it sold 3 days later, and then hasnt responded to my subsequent messages. yay for seller integrity.

That was an interesting one. I was drawn to the 1 pc body, and a little meh about the 5th neck bolt and 10.5 weight. but would have snagged it. George said the 5th bolt was an experiment, and they decided not to use it as it added too much compression. So the top of the bolt was glued on to not leave the hole. But then the owner had the 5th bolt installed by a local tech...

Fascinating! Love that George and crew continue to be interested in experimentation.

Bummer about the seller though. That was a very interesting one indeed.

yeah its pretty great that you can email F bass with a serial # and they'll give you detailed notes on the build. This one was pretty prime. It was also Nitro (my preference), and in spectacular condition. Oh well, thats the way the cookie crumbles, must not have been meant to be.

Could come around again! If not, another will present itself.

I have an old (non F Bass) instrument out there that I hope turns up again someday. I actually know who has it and have told that person to let me know first if they ever decide to sell it.

I don't think your being anything! HAHAHA- You should totally be able to find an axe in the 2k's you never know why people sell or what that are will to sell for!

yeah there are a few here and there, including one on reverb, but nothing thats jumped out at me yet. So I wait patiently, and peruse classifieds way too often, lol

yeah, I guess so. All of the BN's I have sold, I sold at market value in the low to mid 2's a few years back. Now the same basses are 5-800 more it seems. Good for F. Tough for my budget today. I do see some here and there in the mid 2's so I'm gonna hold out and see if I can find one, we'll see.

Makes me feel REAL queasy about selling my 1 piece body BN6 for 2 grand about 8 years ago. Que sera.
Personal disclosure, I am a weirdo who keeps an Excel wishlist of all the instruments that interest me. I am also in the minority who happens to prefer 6-string basses. When I find a weblink of something, I save it and note the price. I know you'd prefer a 5-string but having a quick look at my list, the two lowest priced FBass 6-strings right now (if I had the money) are on TalkBass at $3400 & $3475.

It was a sunny day out yesterday, so I took some outdoor pics of some of my basses. Love the F-Bass blue!

Man that is gorgeous, one of my favorite finishes on an F Bass. That blue is so deep

Agreed. While I technically just copied Tom Bowlus’ specs (except for the weight), I’ve wanted a blue BN5 for a long time, and the pictures don’t do it justice. At least I’ll look good while playing wrong notes :D

I was thinking that it looks like the doppelganger of Tom's ;)

Such a great look over ash with the maple board!
