Club Fbass (thread 13)

Extremely excited to show you my completed F Bass BN5 custom order.

Shout out to the guys at Bass Centre here in Melbourne for being super cool to work with to commission this build with F Bass. I think F are amongst the highest calibre of builders in the world! Their customer service during the build time was outstanding too.

F Bass BN5
Ash body
3-pc Quartersawn maple neck, maple fingerboard
Transparent shell pink
Deluxe leather F Bass gig bag

Videos to come when I have time!

That turned out great (not surprisingly)!!! Glad you were able to get the upgraded bag. I had to air mine out for a few days, noticed yesterday the pockets still have a chemically smell so left them open for a few days (but I’m sensitive to tjat stuff, so YMMV). Congrats- enjoy it!

A question for the F Bass group. Eventually I would like to get a fretless F ( 5 or 6 haven’t decided). What are the differences between the BNF and AC products? I really want that fretless “mwah” sound. Thanks in advance.
Others with significantly more FBass knowledge than I will eventually chime in with more details.

The AC usually comes with a Piezo and a Magnetic pickup, as well as a Thumb Rest. Oh, and the AC body is chambered.

Wow. This is gorgeous. I like how the pearloid guard goes with the pink. Did you have to pay extra for the leather bag?

I have a BN5 near completion. Estimated to be completed in Jul. Can't wait for mine to reach me. :hyper:

Congrats to you! The wait will be worth it! Yep it’s an upcharge.

@soong That looks incredible! I agree with @dessunx Excellent choice with the pearloid pickguard.

thanks! :)

thanks so much!! Glad I was able to get it! Hope yours is treating you well

Few people have asked me for a sound sample of my BN5 :)

I might do a longer demo of the different tones and settings soon. I realise there's so many great videos out there already with these exact wood specs, but nothing wrong with more F Bass videos right? :hyper:

Sounds fantastic ... May I ask for your complete signal chain? (strings - pre/knobs settings and - any compression/devices)

Usually direct to interface with Logic X amp sounds for Instagram posts.

If I’m tracking for a client I’ll usually send a dry track AND a also a track with an amp and cab IR from my HX Stomp.

The video here is direct to DAW literally flat onboard pre, both pickups and tone open with no post-editing/compression at all! Purely the sound of the F!

My bass dealer sent me pics of my incoming BN5 Deluxe. Soon and very soon, it shall be in my hands. Pardon the low resolution pictures. I'm sending from my handphone.

I remember very well how I felt when I first saw these photos on the F Bass facebook page, back in March, after I had just bought my BN5 and was learning more about the brand. My jaw dropped. It was maybe the most beautiful bass I've ever seen. I (like everyone else, I'm sure) wanted it, but it had certainly already sold, and I had just bought a BN5, and didn't have that kind of money kicking around, so I bookmarked the photos (of course) and went on with my life.

So, I was extremely fortunate to be in the right place at the right time (ie. the Club FBass facebook group a few days ago) where this very bass, the bass of my dreams, was listed for sale. At a price I couldn't refuse. It was just delivered, and needless to say, it looks, sounds and feels amazing. It looks better in person than the official F Bass photos looked, the colors of the wood just seem richer and warmer. The tone is solid. And the action, like every other F Bass I've played, is super low and easy to play.

Here it is next to my (previously-posted) 2007 Redwood AC5 Fretless:

And "in context," next to my streaming rig:
