Killing me. I've been lusting for a BN5, but the VF clips have often sounded better to my ears. I'm not usually a J guy, but I might be getting my mind changed.

Thanks pbass6811! Singing is not one of my assets unfortunately. I joke that they pay me not to sing. Yes, I have pretty much everything I need here in my mancave. It may appear a little longer than it actually is due to the camera shot. I'm going through a Zoom G5n Multi Effects Processor (for guitar) and the camera is a Zoom Q2n 4K.Nice job, sir, except for not singing it, too...Love the tone! That looks like a pretty cool space, too. Well done!
What's your recording setup and chain, if you don't mind?
I didn't think the VF would be my cup of tea either but then I played one...Killing me. I've been lusting for a BN5, but the VF clips have often sounded better to my ears. I'm not usually a J guy, but I might be getting my mind changed.

I played a BN5 years ago at Bass Central and quite liked it. That's the only one I've ever had the opportunity to try though. The VF4 came as part of a package deal. I traded a Fodera for a Roscoe fretless and the Vf4. It worked out great!Did you contrast it against a BN? If so, what was the difference that swayed you?

It's the bass plugged into the Zoom G5n, which is then fed into the camera. No amplifier was used.Nice! Is that just amp in the room sound or did you plug into the camera? It sounds great!
Greetings F Bass family! If anyone is looking for a particularly stellar example of a BN5 from the brand we've all come to love, I'm (out of my mind &) currently selling mine.
Details can be found here --> F Bass BN5
Thanks!
Don't do it, man! I absolutely adore my Dingwall basses and there's only one bass I'd even consider trading/selling my BNF5 for, but I truly regret selling my BN5s. I wish I still had at least one of them.
Don't do it...![]()

I hear you loud and clear. I've parted with a few BN5s chasing what would ultimately lead me to this one. They were all great, but this one trumps them all... I can already feel the separation anxiety!![]()
Why do you prefer VF instead of BN? I am in doubt which one to buy.I had that with 3 BN5's that I sold and kept my BN5 NYC (black one) which will never leave me.
You should always have a BN5 in your stable imo, although I prefer the VF series more these days.

Picked up yesterday afternoon, an ‘11 BN6 in *mint* condition. Phenomenal sounding bass, just need to get some real FBass strings on it.
