A little detail I noticed, the strap pin is centered on the bottom of the body, I placed a second pin on my BN5 there, preferred the way the strap felt on my back with a steeper angle, more 'normal' for me .

Yes, it looks like both basses have the same shape, however, FBass posted this photo on Facebook as well, and they said the new body shape that combined aspects of the BN and the BNF.It looks like both have the same body shape and a 24 "fret" spaced board. I'm only guessing this since the trussrod access on both looks the same length.
Pretty slick though.
Apparently the fretted has a hybrid BNF / BN body shape.

Hey guys! I'm new to the world of boutique basses, been using my 4 string Fender Jazz for close to 10 years now.. Am currently looking at a used Fbass BN5 and a VF5. Can anyone enlighten me as to what is the difference between these 2? I am more inclined to think that BN5 is more versatile, and could be great in both live and studio applications. Also, any tips on what to look out for when purchasing a used Fbass? Much appreciated, thanks everyone!![]()
Peterson are great to deal with!!...if you call them directly they will have an answer for you...I had an issue with my screen and sent it back to them...Bam!!...all GOod!Okay, it's a little thing, but my Peterson Strobe Tuner, which I've had forever and love, was killed today by a leaking battery. Anyone have recommendations for me? I'm open to anything.
Got some updated pics today - we're just a few weeks out now!!!

Thanks @Tom7, I remember reading that a bit ago and agreeing is pretty much all of it. Personally I like the blend pot option but understand the versitility that vol/vol controls bring.
Do all of those basses have Ebony boards?
Question for the Club...
I've been contemplating making the dive to jump on a VF5 and join here. I've been after a 5er to get me as close to my 70s ash maple jazz Geddy Lee but in a 5er. My Sadowsky gets me a modern jazz sound, but definitely not Fender-esque. Tried a Used Mike Lull MV5 and while it was definitely more up the classic jazz alley sonically than my Sadowsky, I still feel like it wasn't quite there.
Based off of reviews I'm thinking an ash/maple 70s VF5 will get me as close as I'm going to get. Any thoughts?
Also, the piece I'm looking at is an older model with the F Bass pickups and old bridge, are the newer Aguilar a drop in retrofit or are they different routes?
Thanks.

In addition to the response from @zortation , you may want to consider talking to George or Marcel directly for their input. There have been a few tweaks to the VF neck/body construction over the years, and if I remember correctly, these changes affected how similar they are to the "classic" jazz tone you may (or may not) be looking for.
Unfortunately I can't remember whether the earlier or later designs would be what you're after - Perhaps someone else can chime in as well.

Hey all,
Looking for a favor... I've got a 3yr old boy who's got a lot of energy. With my inbound BN6 I'm thinking I'll want a hard case.
I've been eying up the Pelican cases, but don't have dimensions yet...
Can someone measure overall width and length of their BN6 for me? It would be much appreciated
Thanks!
