How's the B with that cab?

Great! Even, clear, sounds similar to the other strings. (Part of that is the f bass). It's hard to go wrong with any of the current offerings. I had 2 Mesa subway 112s for a time. They were also very good but I sold them because it was easy for them to get boomy in a bad room and they were harder to transport due to the demensions.

I've been using a GK MBF800 through one or two Fearless F112s depending on the venue. So far the only venues I've needed two F112s are outdoors. I'm off to play in a high school auditorium this morning and I'm taking one cab.

F112s handle B strings effortlessly.

For me, it's typically whatever rig I am reviewing at the time, but at home, I've been defaulting to my Bergantino B|Amp and CN212, while at our practice room, it's been a Darkglass MT900 pushing a Barefaced Big Twin II.

I've been playing through Aguilar TH500 and SL112. While I have two SL112 I rarely use both. Last time I was at the F Bass shop George said the Bergantino amp is the best thing he's ever heard.

I've lived 10 minutes away from the F Bass shop in Hamilton most of my life, but was never able to get my hands on one. A buddy in Colorado was selling his, and seeing as how the rarely come up for sale used, and it was the to the exact specification I wanted, I couldn't say now. I told my wife it could be a Christmas gift.

My beautiful 2012 F Bass BN-5 that blows absolutely everything I've ever owned out of the water. Kinda neat as its serial is 010112. So this is kinda like the new year's baby of 2012.

What a GREAT post! Welcome to the club!

I have a very similar BN5; I got it because I loved how it looked. I'm primarily a 6-string player and got the 5-string bass just because I thought I should have one. Sometimes some people are anti-6-strings, but 5-strings are still okay.

At any rate, in the middle of a song in a gig my main bass went silent. Dead battery. I quickly switched to my never-before-gigged BN5 and finished the set with it. On the break, as I was putting a new battery in my Yamaha Patitucci, the band came to me and nervously asked me to please keep playing the FBass. They said it sounded WAY better.

I was so freaked out by playing a bass "missing" a string that I hadn't paid attention to the tone, but they did. That was it. I never gigged my Yamahas again, and ended up getting more FBasses, including a BN6 for my main player.

Anyway, sorry for the diversion. Welcome again to the club.

This, along with an "alder core and ash wings" permutation, has now significantly increased the number of basses on my GAS list. JJ fretted, JJ fretless, P fretted, P fretless, MM fretted, MM fretless. One of each, with maple, rosewood, and ebony boards of course. etc etc. Good thing my brain can't do complicated math anymore or I might realize how ridiculous this is

Really tho, I have been wondering if they could make a PMM with both pickups in the "correct" spots...

So you guys help a noob out concerning the sound of that VF in the above video. I haven't played enough to establish "my sound" and, to be honest, I'm not really clear one what the commonly used terms to describe bass sounds all mean. Punch, scoop, growl, tight, loose, etc., etc....I'm still trying to sort it all out. Having said that, when I hear a sound I love, I know I love it. And that VF is exactly what I want. To me it sounds super growly but tight with the E and B not losing any growl at all. So firstly, how would you describe the sound of that bass? Secondly, is that a bone stock VF? And lastly, is that the bass, the equipment it is being ran through, or some combination of the two giving it that particular tone? Thanks for hearing me out!
