Wanted to chime in with one other detail here.

Some of you may remember I had requested a bit of a "special" finish to the otherwise "off the shelf" choices I made. I requested that the black outside "comes in" a bit further. I didn't want any of the lighter colored finish showing between the bridge and the outside of the body.

Well, the early pictures sans bridge did seem to show a slight change from other Brown Bursts out there. But now that I have a picture with the bridge etc, I can easily see that they did a perfect job of what I wanted.

Kudos to the fine folks at F-Bass! I imagine, as @Gnal mentioned, I'll have many more once it's in my hands

I was quoted 4-5mo, which has turned out to be pretty accurate. I imagine that changes with their workload, so probably best to ask them directly to be sure

It's finally here!

I've only had a few minutes to play it but wow. Though I still need some time to get used to how it sits compared to my jazz, and get used to that extra string (this is my first 6), it's incredible. I'm going to need to learn to play with a softer touch as well, this thing is effortless.

I've only had a chance to play it through my 25W practice combo, but it definitely has that "something extra" that all these F-Basses seem to have. Not sure what frequency or what it is, but I don't care, it's amazing!

I’m considering a new FBass VFF6-PJ (VF Fretless with a P/J pickup configuration). The finish will be Lake Placid Blue with a Tortoise Shell Pickguard.

For the finish I’ve decided upon, which fingerboard should I choose as the best complement? I think Ebony might look too dark. I wonder if I should select something like Coco Bolo, Purpleheart, Pau Ferro, Tulipwood, Goncalo-alves, Ziricote, or Snakewood. (I already have a fretless with a birds eye maple fingerboard, so I'd like something different.)

This will be my gold VF4 Pj twin...the request was to get a rosewood fingerboard with dots and binding, a BN neck (and headstock) and a total alder body no ash tone block, fiesta red and white guard! Can't wait to ear how it sounds compared to his twin maple board, alder wings, ash tone block. How it looks???

I think ebony would look great -- and sound great. For fretless basses, I really like the crispness and articulation of ebony.

Yeehaw, happy to finally be an official member.

Made my first change today. My particular bass seems to have an extreme case of the "chorus-ey" strings, as it seemed to be happening noticeably even below the 12th fret. Off came the exposed core strings.

Threw a set of XLs on there as that's all my local store has on hand. 0 problems now, much better.

I don't plan on using the XLs long term (unless they're amazing), but I also couldn't resist snagging a 5 string set of Cobalt Flats... We'll see how those work out.

The "chorus-ey" sound is certainly from the exposed core strings. On my BN5 it was most noticeable on the B and E strings. But it calms down after a little while. I still have the exposed core strings on my Charcoal BN5, I like the feel but may look for a tapered core string at some point in the future.

For flat wounds, I really like the LaBella 760FL-B set I've got a set on the red BN5, they have just the right tension and both feel and sound wonderful. You may consider looking for a 6 string set like those if they are available. The B on the LaBella's is tapered, so if I could find some rounds in the same style that is what I will try next on the charcoal one.
