Club Moollon

I'd like to give a big shout-out to Andi. I hit him with a s--- ton of questions about the used Moollon I just received, I was shocked and just so impressed at his prompt reply with details, with opinions, with suggestions.
Good old-fashioned customer service. Moollon didn't make a dime on my purchase, but Andi treated me as if I had just ordered a bass or two from them. So gratifying after having just returned a brand-new Fender CS P bass because of poor quality control that rendered the bass un-usable to me. Got a full refund, bought the used Moollon. Andi, thank you again. Before anyone asks why I haven't just ordered a new one.....I'm too damn old to wait three years for anything!

Hello, can someone tell me what color is this specimen?

Another BIG BIG shoutout to Andi and the customer service at Moollon, just unbelievable.
Long story short: I was on vacation in South-Korea this summer, and was hoping to find a used Moollon P I could afford and hopefully take home as my new main player.
I first contacted Andi to ask about any leads, and he quickly replied with a long and thorough email explaining that even there they have become very difficult to find, but giving me a link to the most used second hand website. I posted a search ad there (with the help of my Korean girlfriend), and got extremely lucky as a gentleman contacted me and I could buy a beautiful Fiesta red P on the same day. INCREDIBLE BASS.

But the amazing customer service story is just starting: I wanted to get a new pickguard from Moollon, but only had around a week in Korea left before heading back. Not only did Andi treat my order very quickly, but when they realized the delivery would probably arrive too late the boss himself, Young Joon, drove to my airbnb in the middle of the night to deliver the pickguard and make sure I got it before my departure. And all of this without having to pay an extra cent, on a used instrument. Unbelievable.

The bass is by far the best I have ever played, all the legends are true, it was clear from the first note.

So a big thanks to Andi, Young Joon and the rest of the Moollon team. We are all very lucky to have you building these fantastic instruments.

I need to take a good picture with the new pickguard, mint, but here is a picture with the original tortoise pickguard:

Will some proper footage of it soon, but for now, you can also hear it on my instagram page:

(if anyone knows how to embed instagram videos I'd be grateful, couldn't figure it out..)

I’m not surprised by any of this. YJ and Andi are the best in the bass building AND customer service biz.

Great playing! Also, another testament to the best CS in the bass game!

I know there might be some confirmation bias by posting in this group, but I'm wondering if anyone has gotten a Moollon (specifically a J Classic 4) and just weren't happy with it? I'm having analysis paralysis debating returning a newly-acquired Fender Rarities Jazz Bass, picking up a Nash JB-63 to go along with the PB-63 I already have, or getting a Moollon of which I can only seem to find positive reviews. So, does anyone have any gripes about Moollon?

If your idea of the perfect 4 string jazz bass is a mid 60’s Fender you’d be hard pressed to find a better alternative to a J IV Classic. Fwiw I had an opportunity to play several great mid 60s jazz basses at a shop a couple years ago. In blindfolded tested I suspect most players wouldn’t be able to distinguish the Moollon from the Fenders

I have a Moolon J4 and also a Nash JB-63, plus non-vintage Fender J's, both USA and MIJ,and Xotic J's.
The Moollon for me the best of the batch. From an quality and experiential level, the only other bass I own that matches it is my Olinto P, which is very special.
