Club Moollon

That is entirely a result of helpful, informative, and otherwise excellent customer service!

This! I'm not sure how many emails Andi and I exchanged, but his customer service along with word of mouth and all the sound clips were why I "gambled" on getting a Moollon. I was also considering a Nash or possibly an Olinto P, but Andi's great CS really made me want to give him and YJ my business.

I’m quite ready to order a j classic but have some difficulties deciding on the colour. I found many pics of classic colours but the fancy ones, not at all! Unfortunately moollon does not keep a pic of the basses with unusual colors, so I wanted to ask you if someone found a pic of a completed bass in the following hues: copper gold, gold.

Anyway, I’m interested in some variants, like a body and pickguard routing for truss rod adjustment without taking off the neck, and a matching headstock. Hope it’s possible.

The J Classic V in this pic is copper gold.

It’s definitely possible!

Just be aware that pics on the computer rarely capture the true look of the color of a bass in person. Just look at the pics of those two gold basses and how different they look, when in person they’re probably identical. I’m getting a sonic blue Moollon made right now and in the pics I’ve received, the body looks Olympic white.

I had a MV5 for a couple years and (as mentioned ad nauseam) have played a Fender CS Jazz Bass with Lindy Fralin singles installed for the last 10. Not really a fair comparison, as it's not a J-style, but build quality-wise the Moollon absolutely smokes both of them. Looking forward to the Nitro wearing on the back of my neck similar to my CS.

Thinking a 5 is in the future. The P-Classic V is very compelling, but I can't find a whole lot of sound clips or videos online. My IV is wearing flats and I think it'd be nice to have a P with rounds on it.

Just sent the monies over yesterday for a P5. Two months. Can’t wait. John Bartlett was gracious enough to record a sample of his 4 and 5 P basses for me. Actually, liked the sound of the 5 better then the 4!!

Oh wow. Is John Bartlett on TB? If not, is there anyway you could ask him if it's okay to forward me the clips? I'd love to hear them. If John's cool with it, you can email me at [email protected] ... BTW, what color did you go with on the P5?

I’m getting 3-Tone Sunburst. Was leaning towards the Vintage White but have the 47mm nut on my JV and wanted the same on the P5. They’ve only one neck in house that is the 47mm and it paired best w/ the burst body. Color isn’t too important to me so went w/ the burst so I wouldn’t have to wait till the fall for delivery. 2 months instead. Sending JB a message about the sound clips.

Hello Kenny and all -

I'd like to weigh in here to say I like my P5 more and more all the time, and it has idled some other pretty nice basses of late. Sure glad I decided not to sell it when I listed it last year, here: No longer available - Moollon P5 I've since swapped the white for a tort guard which is pretty snazzy-looking! I'll need to post another pic soon.

Since he didn't mention it, not too long ago I was pleased to share this P5 in action with Kenny in a Facetime call where we did an A/B with my '61 P-bass through a V4B rig, both strung with Labella DTF's. It was easy with the side-by-side to hear the P-bass quality of the P5, but also the top to bottom clarity and thickness that is so satisfying and is the reason that lately I want to take this baby to every gig I can where a P-bass will work. ...and that's most of 'em ;).

Edit: The Moollon pickup is definitely punchier than the average P-pickup. ...not quite in MFD or DiMarzio territory for sheer hotness, but a big strong voice.

I'm not really set up to make sound clips, but the Facetime demo was pretty easy to do over an I-phone - Ken can comment on the sound quality at his end.

Glad to hear you pulled the trigger on a P5, Kenny! I bet you won't be disappointed.
