I think you're ok. Either or. Just have to be careful screwing em in. I was getting a final torque w/ pliers and a screwdriver and dinged it. Go slow. You'll be fine.

I should have the brave soul then... I actually did drilling and put recessed strap lock on my Moollon instead... lol
and yes, YJ's nitro finish is really thin, any extra works can damage the finish if you do care about it.

Just to be clear about this, there was nothing wrong with the Dunlop strap locks. The screw is slightly Larger than the one Moollon provides with their strap holder. It was my fault. All I needed to do was drill the hole out a little teeny bit before installing the Dunlop strap lock.

Don’t feel too bad about this. YJ chipped the paint on my Classic P-IV when he was installing the stock strap buttons in his factory. If it can happen to the master, it can happen to anyone!

(Andi contacted me right when it happened and offered me the choice of a new body with longer wait time, or a discount on the “blemished” body. I took the discount and can’t even see the chip when the strap is on. These guys are the best!)

Good to see another cool bass from the guru of P-basses. I would be interested to see how your neck relief is set when it arrives. I'm playing my August delivered P-IV Classic from the factory and the neck is a little bowed, in a good way. Have not yet measured or taken time to adjust the neck, I'm lazy. So I'm working harder to play the notes but they are really clear, no rattles. No doubt I'll straighten it out in the next week or so.

I’m sure I will! I’m anxious to see it in person, the color didn’t quite come out OW, Andi sent me some bench pictures and it looked pretty creamy.

As I mentioned I have been playing the P-IV Classic with pretty high action, just as it came.
The neck relief from Moollon was set at 14/1000, and the average string height was around 8/64.
I set the relief to 12/1000 [1/2 turn of the truss rod] and dropped string height to around 6/64. Now she plays low and fast, with a smidge of rattle. I'll let the bass settle for a few days and recheck it. I'm curious if most of the Moollons TB'ers received, are shipped with high action. The truss rod turned easily and smoothly.

From what I understand they’re oly white turns pretty creamy fairly quickly.

As far as I remember, all Moollons I played had much less cut grooves in the nut (compared to my laklands, cs fenders, which were cut quite deep), which obviously made more effort when playing, especially I lower fretboard positions.
