I'm sure this info can be found in one of the old threads, but I'm sure that you'll be faster than the search engine
I know that The 5-string PJ pickups are built by Nordstrand following Roger's specs but I can't remember if Roger also switched to Nordstrand for the 4-string PJ set or this is still built by Dimarzio (obviously, by Roger's specs).
Just curious if the pickups in my 2005 PJ4 are the same found on new basses.
Roger responded to my question about that Fran, shortly after I ordered my bass in early May of 2010. My PJ4 has an upgraded Dimarzio J4 HC pup ( in the ongoing quest to get them closer to the sound of a SC , apparently) & the "500" volume pot . I think this change came about approximately at that time.

A related question... does a PJ sound the same regardless of body shape? I'm thinking specifically about the beautiful offset waist J body we see right above this post...

Yea putting a clear j-bass PG, with the control plate and chrome hardware, BE maple board...
Clear pickguard - that will look sharp. I look forward to seeing pictures of that when it's done. Stunning.
Good to know about the j-bass vs p-bass body shapes not having a perceptible difference in tone... So will this bass have a j-bass neck - nut width as well as depth?

Other than the Reverse P, It's a straight J-Bass...1.75" nut width. also putting a pickup cover on it (well, i'll try with and without and see how I like the feel...It's very comfy on my Fender P)
