Club Sadowsky!!!

Got some live video from (probably) the last ever Half Zaftig gig, on our FB page here if anybody wants to see: http://www.facebook.com/halfzaftig

Sound is not great but what can you do in a crappy (but lovable) little club with crappy little cameras. When I was setting up on stage, the bass player from the opening band saw my gear and exclaimed "wow, you showed up at The Central with two Sadowskys and Bergantino cabs?" and I believe it meant he was impressed with my gear, but at the same time somehow he thought it was overkill or something. What, am I supposed to only bring my junky gear to a dive bar gig? :hmm: :D

Kind of a fun low key (no drums) country gig with an old friend and some new friends. :) The guy in this particular picture is a new acquaintence, but it was the best shot for my bass. We were playing "Windy and Warm" by Chet Atkins and John D. Loudermilk. That guitar he's playing is actually a '59 Gretsch Country Gentleman Guitar, pretty much identical to the one Chet played.

That little MB200 looks pretty cute, too. And the bass, well, it goes without saying that it's a beauty! :D

Thanks! And I had more than one comment on the bass/rig that night too... the whole package just really worked... a 110/112 mini rig with that MB200 and a Sadowsy ash/maple J with a deadly B string on it. It was magic. Most folks thought that little amp was a DI box until they looked closer. Got some funny reactions for sure at that point. One guy had recently returned from LA and was freaking out that there was a Sadowsky bass here in this town. :)

That said, I can see why someone would want a nitro finished body: the feel is different, and some like the "relic" look. I do, but it's easy enough for me to "mojo up" my poly-finished bodies. :p

Hey, waitaminit!

I figured that everyone on TB had audiophile ears. That's the only way I can see half of us actually detecting a *lot* of the differences between [ subject X] and [subject Y] we argue over around here.

Yeah, the guy actually met Chet several times, used to live in Nashville, and was a HUGE Chet fan. It was rumored Chet gave him the guitar, but I think they were pulling my leg... maybe not? :)

Mint is difficult to photograph well unless you use incandescent light. These pics are pretty close as is the colour in my current avatar. The nice thing about mint is that it's effect is subtle & only stands out when next to something white. I think it works very well with burst & reds.

I mostly play bar gigs, including my share of divey ones. In short, Sadowsky plus Bergantino is my tone heaven: if I wouldn't bring that gear to a gig, then I wouldn't bring myself either! And thanks for the link to your HZ vids... great stuff as always. :)

Man these PJ'S sure make me think about what to get after my second jazz is finished...This is gorgeous.
