Club Sadowsky!!!

I presume and ash/maple PJ would sound about the same as my MV5-PJ; which I just love, and have been using a lot lately in two new projects.
Man, that thing fills up sooo muuuuch space, sonically. Fat-fat. Yet, crisp, clean and clear, cause, ya know, it's a Sadowsky.

Going into the soundroom for play testing :hyper:

That thing looks amazing. I'm jonesing for a gold guard for my PJ.

And Yes, ash/maple PJs rule :bassist:

Thanks guys - yeah, for a P, Ash/Maple is the way to go for me personally.

I like the Ash/Maple config on a JJ too... probably my favorite, but I do have a soft spot for Alder/Rosewood on a JJ. Just classic.

This P Build was inspired by the good ol' classic look of the Fender 57' Reissue. Can't beat it IMO.

Just picked up a nice metro Rv4 in trade. It's sounds great and is relatively light (sub-9 lbs) but it does have some neck-dive.

Has anyone swapped their Sadowsky tuners with res-o-lites or hipshot ultra-lite's?

Do they fit? Pics please.

Obligatory proof of bass, no number necessary.

If anyone ever has a 5 string Sadowsky P for sale (not PJ), let me know. If Modern Growl's new bass had another string, I'd sneak over to his house, create some sort of diversion, grab it, and run like heck:p

Seriously, though. Looking for an additional 5 string P with a bit of a different vibe (i.e., an active Sadowsky).

Ah, and so the tables turn.
A Sadowsky active P is about a half step away from you becoming a J-bass player.

Surely such a thing would never happen. :D

Ash/maple rules!!!!!

:)

I know Roger says fretboard wood trumps body wood when it comes to tone. I would never argue, but here's my 2¢.

I've owned four Sadowsky P-basses: alder/maple, alder/Brazilian, alder/ebony, and ash/maple. The only one that didn't really work for me was ash/maple, and that's why I no longer own it. I've also owned an ash/maple Fender 57 Reissue P-bass, and an ash/rosewood Lull P5, both of which were feather-light swamp ash like the Sadowsky. To my ears all three had similar tonal characteristics... which, while not unpleasant, simply didn't have the magic of alder.

Obviously I got the ash/maple Sadowsky because I didn't believe I had such a preference for body wood, but after three strikes in a row I'm now convinced. Maybe it's just ash P-basses? Regardless, it's disappointing because ash grain can be so pretty, and works better than alder under semi-transparent finishes.

All that said: I absolutely love the ash bodied P-basses posted here recently!
