Pretty excited I have to say! this ones been a couple of years in the planning to add to the arsenal and it sure looks sweet!

I'm hoping the PJ will be a nice option tonally to add my two JJ Standards?

Thanks Kevin, Roger and crew!

Hi everybody,

I have a little story to tell.

Back in the 90's I decided I was going to order my first custom bass to celebrate my upcoming bachelor's degree in music. I had almost no money given that I was a cash strapped music major at the University of Miami. I went through all my options at the time and made a real effort to play everything to figure out what I would order and who would build it. This included more than one trip to Roger's old shop in Times Square.

Well, I fell in love with the idea of something really expensive from Brooklyn. I decided I would parlay my newfound experience evaluating the best basses around into an internet buying and selling venture in order to flip my way up to the bass I had in mind. I began in ernest with a meager amount of money and found lots of basses for sale for less than they were worth. Eventually a Sadowsky Standard 4 with a tobacco sunburst quilted maple top and maple neck in mint condition crossed my path for...get this...$700. You can imagine how my eyes widened when I thought how much I could make reselling that baby.

The Sadowsky arrived at my apartment, and it only took a second to fall in love with it. It was so light and punchy, aggressive, and warm. I made the mistake of taking it to a rehearsal and a gig, where it killed (of course). Then I sold it with a little tear in my eye, thinking "I'm a 5 string guy," and ordered what was my dream bass at the time (which turned out great).

Lots of basses have come and gone. I have never owned another Sadowsky, yet I have always been haunted by that brief encounter with that tobacco maple 4 string. I've watched for it to resurface ever since.

Well, here I am two decades later, and I just bought the tobacco burst, maple neck, quilted maple top, Standard 5 currently in the TB classifieds. It looks like my old one, but with an extra string. I'm still a working musician in Boston, and I'm finally back in the fold. Very cool!

NICE!!!

It will be... very much so. The PJ is a very different animal from a JJ... with a more modern twist on the Fender type sound, and the P5's Roger is using these days just KILL.

I just finished up an email exchange with Kevin regarding my current build. It reconfirmed for me what a pleasant experience it is dealing with the genuine folks at Sadowsky - every single time, no exceptions. I'm not one to gush but, really, does it get any better than this?! A couple of months ago I called the shop to ask some questions about the preamp and ended up speaking with Lisa. She was totally down-to-earth, polite and informative. We're incredibly lucky to have these guys as part of the bass community. :)

P.S. I forgot to mention how handsome Kevin is (see Kev, I got your back ;)).
