Trying to decide if I REALLY want to part with my very magical RA-5...........the boss man really wants me to replace it with a Sadowsky which is the whole reason I was looking in the first place (I promised I'd check them out)...........only thing is, I didn't expect to see one that I like as much as that one............:scowl:

I've got to decide over a vintage tint on the neck, or not. Right now I'm in "modern metal" mode, and thinking that a vintage tint might dull the "modern" :D

I think it should be a good sonic counterpart to my all black Celinder 4 string.

Hey gang,
I bought a used Sadowsky metro J a year and half ago (with the VTC)
and have always taken it to sessions and some gigs, etc. and dug it right away but I've always been a devout passive P 'n flats kinda guy. Well, the Sadowsky keeps coming out and getting used more and more, in fact, I'd say it breeds confidence just to have it on hand:) The other day, I pulled off burpy bridge PU finger funk/faux fretless on it and grindy rock at the same session. So now, I'm thinking, MAYBE the ultimate do-it-all bass would be a Sadowsky P/J fiver with VTC running Chromes (I prefer Labellas but I'm thinking all-around versatility).
Anybody using an axe like that as their #1?

Hey guys, I own no Sadowsky (yet), but after watching the Behind The Notes documentary, I definitely want one in the future. A Metro Vintage 4!
A quick question: Is the final setup (especially the fret job) made in NYC? I read somewhere that it is so, but I think you guys here know better. (Not that I doubt the quality of the Tokyo Shop).
Anyway, Roger is the man, and I want to congratulate you if you read this for all the work in making such nice instruments for us !

P.S. Does the 5 string NYC from the video have dead strings or is it just me?

I definitely thought the 5 string in the video had dead strings. I don't ever let mine get that dead. But that said, it still sounded really good! Can you imagine what it sounds like with a fresh set? Oh my!

IIRC, the Metro basses go straight to the dealers from the Tokyo shop. The only Metros that go through the NYC shop are the ones sold at the 'In Stock' page.
The fretjob is done at the T shop...don't forget that the luthiers over there have been trained by Roger and the quality of their work and their attention to detail is exactly as that from the NYC shop.

My g/f took this picture today. The tree is being unearthed and sent to Roger: there should be enough billets for basses for all TBers.

I was waiting to by a PJ fiver but gave up as there won't be one in the Metro line for another few months at least (it seems to be "coming in a few months" forever!:p).

I recently started gigging my NYC Jazz 4 with Chromes and the sound blew me away.:hyper: Since a Sadowsky is a really bright bass, it was more versitile than most other brandes with flats. I played funk, rock, metal and even RHCP slap and it all sounded great. I doubt that bass will every see rounds again.
