Ok, I feel I can answer this after doing two consecutive gigs with the Jazz and Standard 24 5. The jazz is what you would expect from a jazz bass, but with the added Sad. punch. Being used to Jazz basses myself, I just set that like I set my Fender and bam, amazing tone that cut like a knife.
The Modern is a whole nother beast. It is a much more 'Modern' sounding instruments, much more of a full sound, yet punchy due to the two back pups. Its not a jazz bass def. but a whole different animal.
Vic probably can explain it better.![]()
So which of the two is your favourite in a mix then BC?

While I agree with much of what you said, including the Alembic reference, IME/IMHO, the Sadowsky 24F 5 (Modern) does not sound very much like a Skjold at all, though perhaps the models with the C4 pickup might be closer.
