Please pardon the non-Sadowsky in this thread, but a "+1" to the red tort on this theme. I did this on my Geddy and I personally really like the way it turned out. The key is to NOT get a true classic tort, but instead, get a red/black tort like I believe gillento is saying.

That looks GREAT. I typically don't dig tort on anything but white, olympic white, or 'natural ash'. However, that 'red/black' tort looks GREAT on that bass. Cool! Nice tip on the red/black tort... I never really heard of that. The beauty of tort to me is when it picks up the colors of the other parts of the bass (like classic tort with olympic white and a rw board). That black in that particular guard really ties that guard's look into the black body and black blocks. I like it a lot!
