Interesting day for my fretless (on the left).
This morning, I played a matinee of a musical I'm doing (Little Mermaid), which was done in front of about 400 kids and parents from local schools and camps for Gifted and Talented in the performing arts.
Then, an hour and a half with my worship band at church. Then two hours of rehearsal with my originals rock project.
Versatile? I guess you could say Sadowsky fretlesses are versatile if they're creditably playing Broadway, worship music, and hard rock all in one day! Can't tell you how much I've enjoyed this bass over the last 12 years.

I have to say, Will Lee had it right when he said that he can cover a lot of ground with his signature Sadowsky model. My WL-4 has probably been to more gigs than any other bass I own over the last 4-5 years. Love it!
As an owner of the original, I can only say, "Yes, you do."

I wish I could get one of these. I've been speaking to Peter, who has been very helpful, but unfortunately with postage to the UK the price doubles for me.
I have bought two NYC Sadowskys that were imported into the UK and doubt I could afford to buy one now with the exchange rates as they are. Stupid brexit!
I've had my RV5 for a couple months now and I must say I'm so impressed. I've been using it primarily for my punk "cover" band, but we play some real dive bars in some so-so neighborhoods (read: shady as ****) so I had to find a backup to use that I didn't care as much about. I've got a reggae show coming up in august (1st reggae gig in over a year) so the RV5 has gotten the call and is nothing but awesome. I really find my self using the palm mute and thumb technique more than my fingers. Rolling off the VTC and boosting the treble gives some thick clean punch to the thumb. Not muddy at all. Very cool preamp design- the Sadowsky magic is real and I'm hooked. The only issue I have so far is that I don't want to let the thing out of my sight at gigs!
Has anyone used the Sad pups and pre on another j-style bass and had similar tonal results? Or is the Sadowsky special sauce just all that? I'm just curious..

I put the HC pups & pre-wired preamp assembly in my MIA Fender Jazz & it sounds great. Definitely improved it a lot. It's very nice but my Sadowskys are still tops. They are more balanced tone-wise all over the neck w/ no noticeable dead spots.
Pat did a matching headstock paint job for me. When I spoke to him about getting the Sadowsky headstock decal, he said he would be able to get one, which he did.
Wow, I'll keep that in mind, I am a total sucker for matching headstock Sadowsky J's.
I spoke to him too and he said he would have no problem getting a replacement serial number and Will Lee decal for those interested in a full neck 'color matching' refin.
Pat is a great guy to work with. Very nice and does outstanding work.
After a four month wait, I just got my candy apple red satin series last week. The color was a crapshoot, as they hadn't made any CAR satins when I ordered mine. Mine is the first, so it's kind of cool to have a bass that is literally one of a kind (until other people realize how cool the color is), and it's even better than I had imagined. Really gorgeous. The bass itself is fantastic. The action was set a bit low for my taste, but that was an easy adjustment, and now it plays great. I own some nice Fenders, but this is the nicest bass I own by far. The low B is very well defined and every note is even across the fretboard. Two thumbs up!!!
Well it showed up! God is good, no doubt. I must admit it had the deadest set of strings I've ever heard on a bass in my life. A new set of Fat Beams cured that, had a slight backbow, a quick 1/4 turn of the truss rod took care of that. It seems to sound a bit more like a vintage Fender than the Sadowsky's I've owned before. But in a VERY good way, it also feels like an older Fender, the neck has a great broken in feel. It's a little heavy (9 1/2 pounds) but nothing like the 14 ppound Warwick NT Thumb boat anchor I owned before. I could see playing this until my fingers fall off from old age.
Reggae on the RV5 is pure cat kryptonite. I guess he was really feelin this groove, lol...
