Anybody here have any real world experience with the Nordy P5 pickup and how they compare the the Sadowsky?

This weekend I picked up a MV5 from another TB'er (LSU921). I now see what the Sadowsky feel is all about.
I've never been interested in the jazz basses and I cant really say why. But more and more I have come to wonder why almost everybody and their mother has one.
After playing it with the group last nite...I see how it just fits in the mix but still cuts through.
I am waiting for a pack of Blue SS to come in and try em out.

Nice! I love that model, and really dig the MV with the Sadowksy single coils (even more than the very nice HC's.. they add more mid punch and 'grind' with that model). I also swapped the HC's with singles in my RV, but the jury is still out on that switch. Something about the stock HC's and the more mellow vibe of the RV model really works well. I may put the HC's back in that bass... not sure!
I use Hi Beams on my RV5. They really work well (for me anyway) in giving me a bright, present articulate tone, but also vibing nicely with the more mellow and soft attack of the RV model... that combination gives you that sort of 'creamy bright' tone.
On my MV, I use the Sadowsky Blue Label steels that you are getting ready to try out. Nice tight tension, and a bunch going on in the upper mids which REALLY brings out the aggressive grind that ash/maple J's (and especially the more modern and aggressive sounding Sadowsky execution) are known for. I really like them a lot on the MV.

If you could switch a few things on a bass like this would you:
1. Switch the Soapbars to Big Singles ?
2. If so would you prefer the standard Jazz location?
3. Change the black hardware to chrome ?

Just curious why the Logo's say Sadowsky Guitars.
Shouldn't say Sadowsky or Sadowsky Bass Guitars or am I being particular? Maybe just sensitive - as I still think Bass Players are still marginalized to some degree.

The 1st 2 change the tone so I think that is player preference. If I wanted that "classic" Sad Mod tone I wouldn't change them. Big singles in a jazz position is a very different animal IMO.
Personally I don't like the black hardware but I'd play any color bass with any color hardware if it sounded great!
Because he makes solid body electric guitars, archtop guitars, and also bass guitars. Seems like simplifying to just "guitars" makes sense to me.

I love single coils and never tried soapbars in the band mix. I've also read and pm'd some friends about the pickups. Seems the soapbars and the 24F in general is a more specific sound/tone.
I play mostly finger style in a six pc. band with horns, mostly bluesy rock, motown, bar music. I use a Mesa M6 and Berg AE410 mostly these days. My NYC Vintage Jazz 4 sounds great in that mix.
