Yes, I did release it and it sits as it should. Unfortunately that's a PIA and I can just see doing a show and forgetting to lock it back into position. (You are also 100% correct about string life) On the newer models they are using smaller tuners so from what I can tell (and as you verified) it's now not an issue. I'll use the Hercules stand for my new WL which should arrive in Feb. Guess, I'll just stick with the Ultimate Stands for now which BTW the bass sits in perfectly, unfortunately they are flimsy and the defective locking mechanisms don't last. I've had to put a screw on everyone I own locking it in place because they start to slide down from the weight of the bass. Just can't collapse them down all the way now!

Certainly it should be very simple to do so, however if they wish to reserve that as one of the few points of distinction for the flagship NYC line that's understandable since they're mostly only distinct visually (figured tops and such).

It can't be tough to find suitable aftermarket hardware. It's not like Sadowsky mills their own.

It is much more than "reserving" black hardware for the NYC line. The Metro hardware is made in Korea and Japan. The NYC hardware is made in the US. We only make the Metro hardware in Chrome.

Okey dokey... Initiated the convo with Peter today about starting a build! I'm going either Metro RV5 or NYC Satin. I know the Metro finish is solid - I'm not too sure about the Satin. I haven't had a chance to get my hands on one. Any Satin owners want to chime in? I'm all ears!

Anyone have a pic of the Ocean Blue Metallic Satin finish? I can't find one online. And can someone correct me if I'm wrong, I have choice of case with the NYC and the Metro comes with a gig bag? I forgot to get that info from Peter earlier.

I like the satin but I'm weird.

Metro comes with the "soft case." Satin comes with the gig bag. I love the gig bag, don't like the soft case, ymmv.

The Metros and the Satins both come in a rectangular ultralight fabric covered foam hard case. NYCs come with your choice of a Portabag or a Sadowsky hard shell case.

Need advice, I'm looking for a high quality bass stand for my Sadowsky WL. I just purchased a Hercules stand but it won't work with the WL. All the weight of the bass is on the D-tuner (see photo) Also have some Ultimate stands but after a while the height locking mechanism won't hold the weight of the bass. Does anyone have recommendations....Thanks

I would go with more of a rack stand by Hercules. Its sturdy and you can get a 3 space and put an additional bass if you want. But as far as safety that is probably the best.

Back in. Decided to retire from 6-string for awhile and pick up a 5'er. Wanted reasonably light weight, balls, and 19mm bridge spacing. Went to Mesa Hollywood today and played 4 different 5'ers, a M5-24 (which I always have liked sonically), two different MV-21s and a Satin Deluxe ash/maple JJ. While I loved the sound of the Modern, I realized why I've sold the last could I bought - the leg cutout is just a bit too far back and deep, and I don't like where it positions seated. The cutout is about the same place on the 21-fret basses but it is flatter so I can slide the bass back. Also helps with neck balance.

Anywho, all three basses impressed which is saying something because historically I'm not an ash/maple guy, nor a JJ guy. But I decided to embrace a bass that was in front of me rather than ordering up something. If one of them spoke to me, I'd buy it. Narrowed it down to a Metro natural and the Satin. Went home to eat and ponder, then slogged back through traffic to play them both on a strap and figure out which was coming home. This one won. Gig tomorrow and Tuesday so it'll get a trial by fire. It pretty much came down to the fact that I don't like the feel of gloss finishes on my right arm as they tend to get sticky. This on is 8.2 lbs. The natural was 8.8.

Welcome back!!! And great choice-you won’t regret it! Nice store too. I bought my Metro PJ there.

I don't care for the look of satin finishes (on solid color basses) but that looks very nice indeed.
I think you made the right choice.
