Club Sadowsky!!!

So...... Uh.... Anyone ummm... have any tips on how to remove Sharpie ink from the back of the neck?

:meh:

A solo artist asked me to back him Saturday night at the last minute. In my haste to get the changes written down all I had was a blue Sharpie nearby. At some point blue ink ended up on the neck of my PJ5.
(but surprisingly not on my hands...)

Fun stuff, lol.

EDIT: This has taken my mind off "The Ding", that's for sure :roflmao:
Sharpie dissolves in isopropyl alcohol. A quick swipe with an IPA moist tissue will take it right off and won’t hurt the finish.

Gotta be careful with toothpaste. Some of it has a bit of abrasive that can hurt finish.

I feel as though my fender has more presence to it than my sadowsky. The strings are different but only because the D'addario's I have on my fender didn't sound good on the sadowksy. I have DR high beams on the sadowsky. Its not that the bass sounds bad, but particularly the E string on the fender is so much better than the sadowsky IMO. The sadowsky sounds even across the neck, but the fender has more punch to it i guess.

In the studio though i found it sounded TOO bright. I'm using an Aguilar 350 head and an SL cab

Which pickups are you using? I highly recommand the Sadowsky single coils made by Seymour Duncan from what you describe. Very growly. You can buy them from the shop (ask for the Duncans, ‘cause they also have Nordstrand-made singles) I run my VTC at about 80% and add just a touch of treble and bass boost (10% or so, sometimes 20% at max). I run this signal through an Aguilar TH500, Bergantino 210 and a REDDI and I couldn’t be any happier with the tone.

Regarding growl (mentioned in the post SRS was responding to):

IME string choice affects that. I get a nice growly tone on my WL5 with Dunlop Super Brights. Works great live, and--contrary to what you might expect from the name--they're not brittle or overly clangy.
My Metro is relatively new and still has the original shipped Sadowsky strings. I've been getting more growl the last two gigs, especially when I'm digging in. Not quite as a growly as my Stingray but a superior tone with my Genzler rig.

IPA = Isopropyl Alcohol.
(I had to look that up even though isopropyl alcohol was mentioned in the previous sentence. )
Exactly. As opposed to India Pale Ale. Thanks for clarifying!!

OTOH, a strong enough IPA just might get the job done.

Warning: one you can drink, the other will be fatal. Don’t get them confused!

I confess to not having tried ethyl alcohol to get sharpie off. I’d rather drink it.:D

I actually drank half a bottle of that stuff when I was 3. My mom accidentally left it out after cleaning something.. Good thing there was a free clinic about 1/4 mile from the house where I grew up. I had my stomach pumped within the the hour. No joke...

Did your voice go from 'Tiny Tim' to 'Howlin Wolf' overnight?

We raised 4 kids. Didn’t have that particular adventure; but, did have several stomachs pumped. IIRC the main culprit was OD’ing on the Gummy Vitamins. Like, the whole bottle.

Glad you are still around! That which doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, right?;)

Maybe that explains my less than stellar singing abilities... :roflmao:

Thanks! Glad I'm still here too..

One of yours ate an entire bottle of gummy vitamins? I'm trying to picture what the effects of that would be - but if it required a stomach pumping it must not be pretty!
