I'm still waiting on my new Satin Series Modern!! I suspect the wood is dry enough to cut out the body and neck!!
I'll agree wholeheartedly. It took me a little time adjusting to my first Metro, but that was after just years of passive Fenders. Once I "got it", I was hooked. I had my 2nd Metro within a year and now I'm 2 months into my wait on an NYC Satin. Game changer is a great description!

Good to know it's not just me. There is a 4 string Satin sitting at clubbass in Toronto that's been calling me. Been having a strong hankering to add a 2nd Sadowsky just after acquiring my first. Although, I might go with a PJ as both of my bands are moving into some classic motown stuff.
I remember the tube had a 'suggestion' embossed on the label...
... 'For best results, squeeze from the bottom.'
Probably the main reason why, to this day, I have no cavities...

The PJ is a thumper! You certainly wouldn't be disappointed if that's the tone you are looking for. I have a Metro PJ5 and I just love that bass for anything thick and meaty. I really enjoy playing reggae on it. All the P thump without the woof and some added articulation courtesy the J pup. My RV5 is an earlier one with single coils. Its a growling, articulate monster - it has the older 250k vol pot in the preamp as well. No hiding bad technique on that one, lol.
I'm stoked to have a JJ and a PJ. They are both very useful in different ways. I'd like to try a Modern, I just haven't come across one in person.
LOL!!! I was practicing for a Christmas Concert program for a church this Sunday and had selected my very capable Roscoe Custom for the job, BUT, thanks to @StingRaySteve, my MV5 is going to stand in!!!

They don't make a PJ in the "Satin" series, do they? I'd love a 5 string PJ if they did.
The Modern satin will get somewhat of a P-bass vibe to it on the neck pickup. Think P-bass with a very bad attitude...
...my RV5 is the bass I can plug in wherever I need to and it always sounds good - be it a small combo amp, a recording interface, or a DI box.
Great bass that lets me focus on the music, and not on equipment issues.
I don't know but the Metro model PJ5 is awesome. Very close to NYC quality.
Unfortunately the weight of a Metro, most often, is an issue for me. I have a Metro Will Lee that is just under 9 lbs. which is the limit for me nowadays. The Satins are chambered and not much more money.
I think the verdine white signature model is a satin pj

My Metro RV5 is lighter than my last main bass, StingRay5, and feels better balanced. But its 9.3 lbs. The Mono Betty strap definitely helps.
Glad to see your still rocking those Sadowsky"s Vic! I remember seeing WL play these basses on Lettermen many years ago I remember pausing my VCR to try and figure out what kind of Jazz Mr Lee was playing lol. Well at some point I figured it out! I've been steadily rocking Sadowsky basses since 2008
. I purchased them used mostly all of them right here on TB. There are a couple i flipped I'd like to have back
. I commissioned my only build in 2009 and took delivery in 2010. ash/maple 24 fret J5 with single coils thats been my main bass ever since. I have a WL5 Metro and a new to me NYC-WL5 all ash/maple. I'm really liking WL5's nut width and I've tweaked the mid boost where I like it. I'm thinking there may 2018 WL5 in my future. Merry Christmas to all my Sadowsky Bass Bros.!!!
I played a Roscoe PJ a few months ago and I didn't like the sound of it, either.
