Club Sadowsky!!!

Got the chance to spend some time with a ME 5-string, and man, what a great bass. Easily like it more than my old MV5, mostly due to the neck profile.

I also remember the preamp on the MV5 being overly “robust”; a little tweak seemed like too much...I wonder if there have been any changes because my new NYC seems more subtle too.

Anyway, the ME feels and sounds great. The only evidence of it being a “budget” Sadowsky are some slight “imperfections” in the neck wood (visual only) and the fit of the input jack. Otherwise, it really has me thinking that I could have gotten 2 of these for the price of my NYC Custom, and had some bourbon money left over.

Hey @R&B, now that you've had the Teppei model for a few months, can you report back on how the preamp has been working for you?
Thanks for asking.

O.M.G. :smug: :bassist: I haven't touched the preamp settings or the setup one bit, because the thing simultaneously sizzles and thunders. Self-playing monster of a Jazz in sonic blue, with a sexy matching headstock and a dark rosewood board, is how I would characterize my Teppei model from Sadowsky TYO. What a find, at half of retail, in perfect condition and with plastic still on. (Typical "used" bass from Japan.) When I get a minute, I'll grab some pics in good light. I am not worthy. Love love love love love.

Funny, I thought the incomparable Teppei might diminish the stature of my other two Metro Line basses. Nope, them dawgs still hunt just fine. Different flavors of awesome. Now, some of my other basses are getting a bit concerned however..

Cool! I'm glad you're enjoying the instrument. I was a bit skeptical about the hidden preamp, but it sounds like it works well.
