Awesome Kevin! That looks incredible! Looks like we'll have a lot of new basses to play at the GTG :bassist:

BTW - you should think about having them cut you a black guard too, but that's just me.

It could also be Indian or possibly even Honduran. It has a very Reddish hue in the pic which usually means newly cut Honduran which is almost always a very rich red initially (because of the wet climate??) until it dries for about 6-12 months on the board itself. Sadowsky ususally says what kind of wood it is on a given bass but I am buying this one from a dealer and I can only go by what is posted on the website...here is a link:

Looks tasty, I will be very curious to see how it sounds. I have played a number of Maple boarded 24-5s but never a Rosewood boarded one...I am looking for ward to it.

This post goes back a week, but!!

I have the luxury of living close to the shop and that red one was ordered for a friend of mine (who ended up with a used NYC--but not like the shop owner was sad that he was going to have another Sadowsky around the shop).
I had the chance to play that bass.... and it kills... String to string sounds so good... every string has some meat to it, but nothing is boomy or out of control at all... it confounds me :smug:...

Also, the grain is much more noticeable than it is in that picture... one reason I liked it more than the one below it (the burst)...

The yellow in the bursts looks plastic-y to me:eyebrow:..

The set up on that one right out of the box was phenomenal...

I've played a few maple boarded 24-5s, and thought it was definately going to be what I was after... but... after playing that bass... that went out the window.. it sounds amazing. Like
I said earlier.. every string had warmth, but was articulate--had a nice bottom, but NEVER boomy or crazy wide and open...

I think I tested it through an iAmp 800 (a bit polite for me) and some Bergantino's... not sure which.

If I had the money I would be a member of this club with that bass in my hand :crying:

Metro prices are listed on the 'in stock' Metro page of the Sadowsky website. Go to recently sold, and click on the pictures of the basses. The spec's and prices are listed for each bass. Those would be the most affordable, and the pricing is fixed... no discounts. So, the pricing on the Metro's is the same regardless of retailer or buying direct from Roger.

I believe the most basic 4 string Metro is around $2,000 US.

I'd look used. I've seen some crazy good deals on used Sadowskys courtesy of our economic dire straits. The ones on the TB classifieds here are often in near-mint condition since most of the gearheads here on TB take such good care of their babies.

It will still cost you around $1500 or more though, even for a used one.
