Guess this marriage didn’t last long. It’s up for sale already on the FB Sadowsky Bass Owners page.
I've owned a lot of basses from most of the top builders in the US and world the this NYC Sadowsky is the best built and playing I've had. I just don't care for the pickups as much as my Dual Coil basses. I think I might love the modern Soapbar Sadowsky. It's an amazing bass for sure though just not my preference.
You could always swap out the pickups, or send it back to the NYC shop and have the pickups changed out.
+1 on this, it would certainly reduce the amount potentially lost in the resale of the bass.
I purchased it used from the original owner and should easily be able to recoup the money I give for it based on what I've seen the NYC basses that are newer like this one sale for.
Bummer you didn't get on with it. There's a German 5-24 in the next township over from mine on Reverb that I really don't need and yet look at online frequently enough.
It's good to know what home feels like but catch and release is expensive. Too bad travel is so restricted or you could make an appointment, get on a plane, and try several models out in person to see what's right for you. P2 size pickups would seem sensible for any custom 5-string build because most available pickup types can fit in a P2 shell (single, split, dual, quad, alnico, ceramic, etc). As long as the wood, vibe, and aesthetics are right you can swap out pickups and electronics to taste.

that is a very beautiful bass. if i didn't have a pretty serious custom on order right now, we might have had to talk about it!
that said, i don't expect you'll have any trouble selling it at all!
