I like the smoother feel that's possible with this this wrap. On another string related note, I recently tried to install DR Pure Blues PB5-45 .045 - .125 on my NYC 5-24.

The low B-string, which has no taper on the bridge end and very little taper above the nut, was problematic. The bridge end wouldn't fit through the opening and seat correctly, and the nut end wouldn't wrap around the tuner post as you would expect. See photo with DR .125 B-string compared to Blue Label Nickel .125T

I definitely would not recommend these strings, and will be going back to the trusted Sadowsky Blue Label Nickels.

Huh. Happily rocking Pure Blues on a WL5 Metro - no such issues as you report. I have liked these strings on several basses, and the WL5 is no exception.

All, it's a sad day in Sadowsky-land... today, our VERY good friend and also team member for some of us, sadly lost his courageous battle with cancer. TB'er Chef has passed. For those of you so inclined, sending a prayer his and his family's way would be good.

I use the Pure Blues 40-95 Victor Wooten on several basses. They sound fantastic and play real smooth.

Cool - not to dis the strings entirely. I did try the EADG, and they are quite nice. I just prefer the Blue Nickel Sadowsky tapered B, which to my ear provides more fundamental, and seems less "cloudy" than the DR Pure Blues.

A friend asked me this week to build him a ramp for his Sadowsky.
I had two wax sealed Asian ebony boards, so the final product was ready in 2 days.
Never actually used this wood for anything to this point, but it turned out really nice, with a Pau-Ferro look and an Ebony texture and feel. After dry polishing it to 12000 grit with micro-mesh pads, and setting it overnight with beeswax\carnauba wax on top, happy to show you the result:

If memory serves, there was both a strip joint and a Popeye’s within sight lines of the entry to the 1600 building where the Sadowsky shop was. The magnitude of this circumstance is not lost on me.

I used to get intimidated in that hallway as a kid because I knew that Will Lee, Marcus Miller, Darryl Jones, Neil Jason, T-Bone Wolk, and a host of other heroes of mine took the same elevator and walked on the same floor to get to the shop. I tended to over-romanticize things back then, but no regrets now because you take the magic where you find it. Plus, I found out later that Roger treats everyone with the same courtesy and respect.

There was nothing like making the trip to NYC and that little shop to pick up a new bass.
Still have the black (now refinished), but wish I held onto the sunburst one.

But not just the PU, the electronics is passive. Every Sadowsky have passive PUs, haven't they?
