Hi, problem solved. The PU height was too high, I tweaked them down full into the body, the signal became less, but the preamp is not overloaded.

That's a bass with a lot of mojo. Really cool.Thanks Fran, I appreciate it. I bought this as solid black in 1989, but I had it refinished by Pat Wilkins several years ago. I like the look of the subtle grain of the alder.

Correct. This is a known change. I would have to order one without the Schallers if I became in the market. I'm not a fan of those locks, not to mention everything else I own is Dunlops. I'm not going to manage two lock types.
I'm slowly converting over from Schallers to Dunlops, initiated by getting my Sadowsky. I started with the Shallers because Fender had their version of them, but I trust Roger more than Fender, so am making the switch.
I do like that clean look, but prefer the functionality of the duals... that way even if I have to use a strap without my locks on it, I can.I really like the look of the recessed Dunlops like on a Fodera. I installed those on a bass once. That drilling was scary.

Love recessed and had those installed on all my basses. Both Sadowsky or not Sadowsky.
This. Happened to me once. I forgot my strap.... with recessed Dunlops.... and the guitarist had an extra strap which would have been cool except it didn't have Dunlops. I had to sit on a stool. Fortunately we found a stool for me to sit on.
The next time I get a set I get won't just get the pegs but the full kit, with the strap pieces, and keep those in my gig bag "emergency kit." Small, light weight, and easy to install/remove.
what if those get lost or forgotten for some gig where maybe you don't bring your regular full setup? Also, if you're going to do that, why not just always carry a backup strap already configured?
YMMV, but I personally like to have a simple completely fail-safe backup plan. Having the buttons there, like they are for the vast majority of guitars out there, is just something that doesn't bother me at all, so maybe I'm lucky in that way.
All good points. My "emergency kit" is an extra battery, some tools, a few bandaids and a couple dollars in quarters - it lives in my gig bag in a pouch dedicated for it. Adding a whole strap is bulkier than it could handle, but just the locking-pin/strap end isn't a big deal to add.
But then the design of the Dunlop strap pins allow a regular strap to work as well (unlike the Schallers), so yeah, probably not necessary. Unless it was a cheap/worn out strap that wasn't going to hold well...
It costs me a few bucks to have them in there. I get your point, but they'll give me piece of mind being in there.
I keep a few things under the seat of my car. Strap, instrument cable, amp power cable. It’s come in handy a few times.
Might work... if I used the same case every time. With multiple basses I guess I'd need a kit for each case.
This is why I use Dunlop Dual Design on all my basses. For home rehearsal, I have a comfy unlocked strap -- matter of fact, it's the Sadowsky leather strap -- which has four strap holes on the tail end, so it's usable with all my basses, including my non-FSOs, without having to adjust the tail. Point is, it's secure enough on the Dunlop button, even unlocked.
As for gigging: I know how I am, so I keep a locked strap in every bass case, and bring two basses to every gig. But it would be like me to screw that up somehow, so again, I'm glad to have a button that's usable with an unlocked strap.
I keep a lot of music gear in my car... I should include one of the inexpensive nylon straps I've accumulated over the years. Wouldn't even have to be locked!
