Hard to say. The cover looks to be wider for sure but doesn't necessarily mean it's filled up with wire or a longer bobbin with a spacer to add coil length. Fodera has a longer single coil bridge pickup, similar to the pic that SD and Aero make for them. I'm 100% sure the wire does not fill up the cover on those and there is no spacer. I can't say what's under the hood on these.

yeah, i've seen those before (even used them, I have Fender V's too), but those don't look nearly as exaggerated as the ones in the gold bass, which i thought was what was driving all this.

Back to my Ken Feister Balmer Sadowsky Signature Man Bass, I’m trying to put a deposit on the same bass … setup/configuration/BIGPUP (I only need ONE I think) … but in unlined fretless.

That larger coil with the Sadowsky pre/wood-working is increasingly amazing. Trying to hit the woodshed to make some of my videos more palatable.

Video recording/the interwebs something I’m not even a 3/32n’d smart C#$% about.

I absolutely love the concept. There are just too many specific things I look for in the P bass, 60's and 70's j bass tones that I don't believe can be reproduced in one bass. I'd love to try out this set-up in person and be proved wrong. I'd put down my deposit post haste

HERE'S WHAT A SEARCH FOUND:
Black Label strings have slightly higher tension and a tighter top and bottom. Blue Label strings have slightly lower tension and fuller mids.

I think I'll try Blues.

IMHO, Black Labels are noticeably stiffer feeling and lack the mid presence of the Blue Labels. Blues, either nickel or SS, would be my choice.

i agree with this. i used to own a modern, and when i did i always used blacks on it, where i always blues on my j's and p's. this is because the moderns are so mid-forward by design that the blacks complimented the sound better.

i don't own it anymore (sorry, my wording was unclear, hopefully fixed), but if i did, i would always try to use blacks. i tried blues on it when i did have it, and at least for me, it was "too much of a good thing".

I use Blue SS, but I did try Black SS and they were taken off after a few gigs....they lacked punch and bottom end for me. Very happy with Blue SS

I played a Metroline 4J to see how the 1.5" neck felt. I believe it was a Tokyo build, it has a factory installed Drop tuner, and a Birdseye neck. It felt and sounded great, but still leaning towards a 1.75" neck (my aged hands prefer them). Doesn't seem like the German Metrolines offer options, not anywhere I've been able to find. It's pretty much 1.5" or nothing for a Metroline 4 string JJ or PJ??

I have had good results with both, but I find that I slightly prefer the Black Label feel/tone. That being said, for certain styles, I would definitely pick the Blues over the Blacks, but I asked for Blacks on my latest CAO Super P/J, and for what I was after, they are perfect.

Finally got my hands on one of the short Sadowsky straps thanks to @flewis! Definitely the best strap I’ve ever had. When my build is finished in 2-3months I might need another one! I don’t see my Metro Will Lee or PJ5 RSD going anywhere.

If you need another but can't find the Sadowsky branded ones, I'm pretty sure the Neotech mega strap is basically the same thing. Mega Strap

It's close but not the same thing. Probably about a year ago this came up here in the thread. Roger said he has it made to his specifications. When he put the long ones for sale I bought one and can say the Sadowsky is a much more solid strap. The mega strap has cheaper leather ends that bend too easily where the strap wraps around it. I stopped using that strap thinking the leather would eventually just rip apart and drop my bass.

this is true. Roger's straps are not as "bouncy" as the neotechs.

I highly recommend the QLIK air cell guitar strap. They don’t have the bouncy feel of the comfort strap and they’re much more comfortable on the shoulder than my Levy’s padded leather straps.

Another good option for neoprene based straps are the Guv Gear Solostrap Neo.

I have both widths of them and I like them a lot. I’ve been using them for a few years now and they hold up very well

Not to throw my 2 cents into everything but I may as well share my experiences. This strap is great unless you have a neck heavy bass. It's a bit slippery on the shoulder. I use it from time to time now, the air cells have held up well since I've had it for about 4 years. Extremely comfortable, just not good for a bass with neck dive.

Anyone here try the Mono Betty strap? Been curious to this one.
