Nuts, isn’t it? I’m a little happy that the pickguard will cover those eyes. I might be afraid to go into my den/music room late at night otherwise.

I almost hate to cover up this top with the vintage guard and control plate, but I really love that style. Always loved the fancy maple tops in the vintage look. And I’ve wanted a Caramel Burst since I first walked into Roger’s Jay St shop. Having him spray a dark caramel burst. Using this underexposed photo as a guide. And of course, Tort.

Thank you for the info. I did not know that and I've been a Sadowsky owner for over 20 years.

I just love caramel bursts. And adding the tort pickguard just seems to right. Just like you, I can't wait to see the outcome.

LOL, before you decide on that (!!) make sure you have Roger overlay the pickup routes... it might be the case the neck pickup route mitigates that, and you may choose a clear pickguard or maybe even a non-vintage config. just a thought.

No it is the same both have same humbucker and jazz noiseless single coil

Also every thing else seems the same except MM is Red Alder while M/J seem to have Ash

This is why I asked since calling one MM doesn't seem to make sense but their must be a reason.

Seems it is a mystery:)

I have been eyeing a good deal on MM labeled one and thought I could get a quick answer here
PS: some MJ have red Alder also contacted Sadowsky and Roger was out no one there at time knows anything
Mmy guess is the MM was first release but caused confusion Bass has Morado fingerboard and I know in past he used type of fretboard intial in model name

I disagree. I have a 5-21 on order that will have a figured maple top in an extra dark cherry finish with a tort guard. I love the look and there’s still plenty of figure to see. For me a jazz bass style instrument just looks naked without the guard and control plate.
