Club Sadowsky!!!

The metro express 5string could have kept the 19mm spacing bridge if the neck size were unchanged.

Yes, that was an unfortunate surprise. I’m having a Hipshot installed on mine with 19mm spacing. Not sure why they went that way? It was always a special request to get 18mm . Now it’s the other way around with the SMX basses.

Ordered a 19mm bridge from Warwick. Although the website stated 12weeks, they shipped within 1 week and it reached my door 2 days later. Amazing.

These are Sadowsky tuners, made by Warwick. You might try contacting Warwick in Nashville or Germany first. If you want to replace it, get the Hipshot Ultralight 1/2" post, Cloverleaf, chrome.
I made the investment just now. None of my other bass’s tuners slip as much. Within a couple hours of tuning. It reminds me of Jimi Hendrix’s Strats always going out of tune. Usually down but sometimes hot. I’m bending notes when they’re off.

Hello fellow Sadowsky fans. I put this in the "wanted" section as well, but does anyone have a 3-knob onboard preamp they want to sell? I have both the 3 and 4 knob versions in two of my basses, but wanted a 3 knob for another project.

No such thing, right? I have both, MEVW and MEFL, swapped the necks.
Much happier with the outcome!!

You found a ME Verdine? In the US? With a MAPLE fingerboard? Talk about a rare find. I couldn't find a single Verdine in the entire US when I was looking. I had to go to Thomann. I'm happy with my Pau ferro board. Looks fine, but a maple board woulda been my first choice. Enjoy that beauty.

I love my Verdine. Its been my #1 for almost 4 years. (2020 model) The Black Fretless P/J hybrid I'm working on will be done in a few weeks. I've discovered getting this fretless neck sorted has not been that easy. Had to increase the shim size, ( neck came shimmed and still couldn't get the strings bottomed out. Messaged Roger. He advised me that it needed additional shimming) and I keep having to play with the saddle action, and the neck relief to get it where it really should be. I'm thinking once it settles, It'll be more stable and stay in position. Wish me luck. Pics to come once completed.

Nice! What did you use on the surface of that board?
Minwax Poly Shades Black/Poly blend. Minimum 6 hours between coats. its a stain with poly, so it should be permanant. Board needed to be well prepped. Looks great. Although the bass is very difficult to play in tune perfectly. Fretless is hard enough WITH marker lines. No markers and just side dots makes for alot of concentration. I'm considering very small fretlines on the top edge using 1/32 tape. Its a cheat, but it'll still keep the fretboard blank, give me some guidance. Ultimately I can remove them. But for now, been a real reality check on how difficult playing unlined fretless is. Still pondering what material will be used for the guard. But its coming along...
