I hadn’t tried a Sadowsky until this one, and I expected to play it in passive mode as I tend to prefer the tone in passive circuits, but WOAH - the Sadowsky 2-band active preamp is the secret sauce. It’s not just loudness, either, the whole bass comes alive and the entire range of boost gives you usable tones, something you can’t say about most active preamps. I find that some positions almost gives the bass a completely different character.

Friday was the first time having a Sadowsky in my hands, as in germany they were rather rare. But now with Warwick I could finaly play one after 22 years of making music.
And I need to ask - HOW?!
How can a 34" 5 String (even the budget line) can have such an amazing B String?!
It totally blew me away that they are even on the same level as Multiscale Basses regarding tone and feeling.

The amazing B is the result of a thoughtful construction. You can find at TB many threads where the question is discussed and many TBler came to the same conclusion (Mr Sadowsky even so)
IMHO is the tapered B String another factor. Welcome to the Sadowsky fellowship
Well, this arrives Monday from Barcelona. Gonna need some love. Fingerboard is pretty blotchy, will smooth, stain, poly, buff and polish it up. New pre unit w/VTC, and other cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. Will send a pic once finished. Unlined fretless. Time to shed.

Just acquired this older, yet mint, 4-24 PJ.
Tuners are the older style, pre-Hipshot UltraLights.
Need some guidance on which Xtender would match, I'm guessing a BT3?
The only Hipshot with this hexagon baseplate is the BT3.

It depends on which tuners your bass was originally built with. Post a photo of the front and rear of the headstock.
That bass (and truck) are amazing! I would love to see some more pix of that bass for sure! I have the Masterbuilt Sadowsky P bass - it is unreal -- but one day I will find a NYC with matching headstock like yours - great pic.
More bass porn for Roger...note the Atelier Z Beta and Spector are in the rack, but the 4-24 gets the spot.
It was an ordered bass, and during COVID. Took a long while, was well worth it!
These are custom made Hipshot BT-1 tuners. Why would you change them?

When I detune before tuning up to pitch I have a half turn of no resistance whatsoever. It just doesn’t feel right. If that is the way it works I can accept that.
