Club Sadowsky!!!

LOL - I was actually contemplating tiger's eye which is brown, but I decided on a departure (Dark Cherry Burst).
When I saw the raw body I was hoping for something not as common as that burst, like tiger eye, T-Black, T-Blue, T-Red.

The burst is nice and will move quicker when you decide to sell it. :hiding:

Hi guys,

Sorry for my bad english...i'm french !
I was wondering if someone can talk to me about the Sadowsky Metro Vintage Style (RS5/MV5)...I tried a Sado few days ago but It was an NYC modern style. I liked the "punchy" sound and the B string in awesome. Sadly, I cannot afford me a NYC bass so I thought about the Metro ?
It seems that the Vintage Series got the 60" pickups position. Is this possible to have this "jaco" sound with this bass ?

Thanks you in advance

Yes, the Jaco sound is perfectly possible with the MV5. Just make sure you have the VTC (vintage tone control) to cut the treble.
The MV5 is far more versatile than the Modern. I had both basses, sold the Modern and kept the MV5.

If you're really after that tone I'd probably try to get a volume volume tone config rather then a volume blend tone..

Is that cherry burst? I have a NYC 24F 5 on order and I specified caramel burst, but I think I like this better. Mine does not have the maple top, so I'm looking at the back side and it looks great on ash.

Thanks,

BWS

Caramel burst was considered, but after perusing the sold basses list on the Sadowsky site, the dark cherry ones really stood out to me.

Nice bass, AJ! Lovin' the look of the burst.

Jerry, if you want to try out my PJ some time to see how you like the neck profile, you can always come out to another gig and try it between sets. I've never tried a UV 4-string, so I don't know how the profile compares.

Bart, the neck on your PJ is perfect. I have spent some time with that bass at the GTG's. And I spent maybe 2 minutes with Toby's old Metro 4 and was happy with that.

I've been playing my '85 MIJ Jazz and the '95 stingray so I just want to make sure that the UV70-4 neck was similar since I've never played one. My '70 precision's neck just feels a little to rounded to me which probably due to the 7.5" radius.

That was a big debate for me between the cherry burst and the caramel burst, which i like equally. The reason I picked caramel was because it stands out a little more especially with quilted maple top. And the cherry looked closer to a regular sunburst which i own probably 20 sunburst in my life. So I order the caramel and while I'm waiting for my bass to be build I reconsider 3 times a day to call Kevin and change it to cherry but so far I'm sticking with caramel.

Cherry Burst does look a bit like Tabacco Burst. But, in the lights the Cherry side comes out. Here is my Standard 5 in Cherry Burst.

As a point of comparison, here's my Dark Cherry burst Standard 5:

Joel, Do you have singles in yours? I hear they sound great in the solid ash basses. Im curious if the same results are to be had with the maple/ash/maple standards like ours?

Apologies for all the Metro questions...

Is the MS4 the same bass as an MV4 without the pickguard and chrome control plate? In otherwords if I get an MS4 would I be able to convert it to an MV4 by installing the pickguard and plate? Or is there something that makes that impossible?
