Club Sadowsky!!!

Hey Everyone,
I've clicked through our club page for quite a while now and I'm noticing a trend. It seems like there are more owners of "jazz bass inspired" and "modern" sadowsky basses than the good old "p bass inspired" models.

I'm interested in getting a P styled bass here sooner or later, so I'm wondering how people's RV4-HPs are comparing with other Precision inspired basses out on the market.

I've heard it said that the different in the maple/morado is pretty subtle, thanks to the monster preamp. And I'm wondering if the VTC can dial in the classic sound, rather than just muffle things up.

Any comments or SOUNDCLIPS :hiding:would be greatly appreciated. :D Thanks,

I just put down a deposit for a Metro P today. Played a P/J model at the shop, which sounded phenominal with the P pup solo'd. It can do the vintage P thing very well. I opted to go for the straight up P pup configuration because thats all I really want and need from a P-bass, but i dont think you can go wrong with a J pup in the bridge position. Roger and the crew sure know how to build em.

Thanks for this info. I really wanted to know how the PJ sounded with just the neck pup soloed, since I'm plagued by comments I've read on TB like, "PJs with the neck soloed don't sound like Ps"...etc...etc. Which I've always thought sounded a little strange, but at the same time...I know nothing about wiring, series, parallel, and all the technical stuff that could possibly be a factor.

I basically just need a solid P-style bass, but I figure the added versatility can't be a bad thing. Although, I am a fan of the simple, classic look of the one pup.

Congrats on your order, and I know it's gonna be a looker!

Played another gig on Sunday with my new Ultra vintage. I'm still amazed at how well it sits in the mix and how easily it cuts through without having to crank up mids or treble on the amp. Just a slight bass boost (which I'd never do with other instruments) and its clear amongst two loud guitars and hard hitting drummer. I can cut through with other basses but the sadowsky makes it almost too easy.

What is the secret with Sadowsky? Why do I have a harder time finding a balance between a cutting through tone and warmth with other basses?

Lot's of upper mids to cut, and the capability of a big low end to put the all important pillow under the band IMO. Very nice!!!!

I've enjoyed reading your appraisal of the UV70. I expect to take delivery of an alder/morado UV70 five-string sometime tomorrow and will be curious to hear how it works with my 12-piece R&B band. Just finished a three-night stand using my AV 62 re-issue jazz through an Aguilar db 359 and Berg hs 210 and, just as you mentioned, had to boost mids and treble. Not a lot but I expect the 70s position rear pup will add a little punch and definition.

Ahhh...isn't it amazing how a guy can post a bass question on Sunday and wind up with Tommixx's month old PJ Hybrid Metro on Wednesday!

Granted, these are not fancy like the NYCs but I think they are pretty classy! And it's a nice comparison between the aging nitro neck of M563 and the spanking new maple on M2215. Thanks to all club members who helped me finally decide on a P!

6-months...should be ready just in time for college =)


anyone know what the % down for sadowsky is to get the project started?
