I usually agree with my man Ken Jung but I think he's off base with this whole aversion to fancy tops on Jazz basses. Roger's Vintage basses with figured tops are among the prettiest looking instruments out there.

I say do it. You can't go wrong with a nice Standard JJ5. Mine gets a lot of play time.

Actually as it is lately, my PJ5 gets the most play but there all equally awesome instruments.
