Congrats - I bet that one will be stunning. I know the basses always look better in person, but I find especially that blue finishes (for whatever reason) seem difficult to fully capture in pictures for some reason. I've got one in bora blue burst and the finish is remarkable - magic really the effect of the burst over quilt under different lighting... Looking forward to seeing the final product!

Totally understood Rob. Have you had a chance to play any new NYC basses that don't have chambered bodies?

Hey Michelle, What would be your take on that mix Ash/Mad. I have one also and its an unusual mix.
here's mine, I love the smooth but snappy sound.

I'd be interested in your take as well - my NYC is ash\braz and I love the combo. I like a nice RW board, but find the alder\RW\HC combo a bit too polite in the mids for my taste (well on a jazz bass, anyways). Going with ash and SCs really add some complexity to the mid-range and fits nicely with that RW sweetness.

I've been scoping out my next NYC in my head and want to go ash\maple\SC (and a 5 string) for a bit of variety...

Hi

For sure, Cliff. I own one!! NYC jj5, solid ash, singles, maple board. KILLS! Im in a real spot, though, and might have to sell some gear. It might be one thing to go. Im deciding what to keep and what to sell. Lost my main gig!! Sucks. I also have a Will Lee and a hybrid PJ4. I love them all. Dont know what Ill do

That bass was great. I love the unusual combo of solid ash body with the madegascar rosewood fingerboard and I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for taming a bit the snappy ash sound. Very interesting combo with a super nice flavour.
If I remember correctly Rob (bikeplate), at one point of his Sadowsky Nut carreer, had one with this combo and I'm sure he can subscribe my words.

Nice looking bass (the 4 and the blue). I'm afraid I'm not going to go with a fancy top for the PJ5. Considering two different alder bodies that are built right now. It's alder/rw for me. Now just trying to decide if I want a pickguard, and if it is worth bumping up from morado to something else. I find the alder/rw gets enough top end for my tastes. My ears are much older school. Along with the rest of my body...

Sorry to hear that dude, best of luck!

Just saw the classifieds. Nice score on the seafoam Metro, johnnydi!

It's a long drive, but you should really try to make the next Portland GTG (no idea when that will happen -- probably in a few months or so).

Yea! finally, I've been wanting a seafoam Sad for a long time. I was just about to call Kevin and order one. If I like the Metro enough, I will get A Metro PJ and I'll be set for a while.

I would love to go to a GTG. Like you said Its a drive. A 4 1/2 hours drive to be precise. Let me know next time. I'll try to make it.

Here's my new Baby
