I don't really dig the clear at all. It gives it that "floating control plate" kind of look that I don't care for when you simply remove the PG altogether. I like the tort look much better on this bass than I do on my cherry burst, but I think the parch looks pretty sweet as well. We'll just have wait until it gets here.
BTW, if anyone happens to be looking for a Brown Tortoise PG for a P5 or a reverse P5 (NYC), PM me. I have them now, and I don't know what to do with them.

I definitely have the bug for these basses!!!
I'm not sure I yet if I can afford to keep them both, but this one is hot, and I really want to try the single coils. My thoughts are if I really dig the SCs, I can always part with the PJ. I REALLY, REALLY hope I don't have to though. I fall more in love with that bass every time I play it.
BTW, which PG? It comes with both as well as a clear!!

Yea. I've saved enough buying used to almost buy another one used. Although I have to say that I feel like I have missed something not ordering from Sadowsky. But, I have to say that I probably would have ended up with very similar stuff even if I picked everything myself.
Please, please, please put me first on the list if you decide to sell this bass. I've wanted this bass or one like it since I first saw it.

Are there any visual indicators whatsoever on a Sadowsky body that would allow you to determine if the body is chambered or solid?
All the research that I was able to dig up suggests that Sadowsky sort of slowly transitioned into chambering the bodys, so there's no hard line in the sand as far as a date.
So, if you know what to look for, can you tell a chambered body by looking?

Probably not. My bass was made during the transition period, and Roger said he couldn't tell me from the serial...
In a transparent or semi-trans finish, look for a grain mismatch around the beveled edge of the top of the instrument. This isn't easy because the grain usually changes direction radically at that point.
That makes sense, but if the bass has a lam top, that seam is there either way.
Oh yeah, yours has the maple top. In that case I seriously doubt there will be any visual evidence.
The ash body basses were supposedly later than the alder basses. My ash/maple was built during the transition period but it's a nice weight at 8.7 pounds. I don't see any visual indication of chambering. But either way my bass sounds spectacular.

Tonight will be stage one in deciding to keep the RV5 (or swap in SC pups).
It's alder/morado/HC's....compared to my Valenti (alder, pauferro, Sadowsky SC's and preamp) it's just kinda too hi-fi.
Once Roger and crew get some single coils in, I'll be getting #4168MV5 in short order.
And, I have an AC LG5...
The single coil thing just suits me better; but, I really dig the RV5 aesthetically, and in terms of playability. The neck and fingerboard feel pretty different from the AC and Valenti.
I haven't been playing it much cause the HC's just don't rock the mix as hard-for me-so, tonight will be partly a re-visitation and partly beginning of thinking "flip or modify" for the RV5...
